Cowboy! So glad to hear from you & even more glad that you're still quit. Good for you for getting the herbal snuff, do whatever helps. Sorry to hear you've had some trouble in your family & thank goodness your dad & your sister are going to be OK. You stayed quit through it & you should be proud of yourself. You're doing great! I've been gone for awhile so I don't know if anyone is still reading this. Things have been hectic around here. On June 1 my youngest sister was hit by a car while riding her bike home from school. She was pretty beat up but came out of it with only a broken collar bone, scrapes & bruises, and not being able to hear out of her right ear. She is getting her hearing back and is doing really well. Miracles do happen! On June 8 my dad was going to fly his powered parachute (a type of ultra-light airplane-basically a big fan, two seats, and a motor that hang from a parachute) and crashed into a fence while trying to take off. He crushed his foot, no broken bones, but he is still laid up in bed. Fridays are starting to scare me a little bit. Not chewing is going good. I have been using Smokey Mountain herbal snuff and it seems to help a lot. In fact, when I got my first can my wife kept checking the label to make sure there really wasn't any tobacco or nicotine. Said she couldn't believe the difference in me! Having something that resembles chew really helped smooth the cravings out for me. I still really want a chew, but now I can deal with it! Hey Cowboy, Good to hear your doing well. I can give you a few pounds I'm trying to get rid of if you want LOL. I was getting worried there thanks for letting us know your hanging in there. You won't gain a ton of weight but you might gain some. I switched to light beer on my nights out and started hiking and lifting weights. Suggestion... try going to a health food store and see what they might have as a replacement to chew for people who are quitting chew. I heard that there is an herb that can be put between cheek and gum that is used more for an increase in metabolism. It's something to consider as a replacement as long as it is not addictive. Either way we are here for you!!OK? OK! Doing great, Cowboy. Keep it up. Keeping our mouth busy helps & I'm sure especially if you used to chew rather than smoke. But have you considered an NRT as well? It helps with the irritability & anxiety so you are clearer-headed & can actually DECIDE when you want to chew on something. It seems as if your mind is teling you to chew something, expecting that it will get some nicotine to pass off to the junkie that lives there. When is doesn't get it, it tells you to chew something else. NRT is just a way to make the quit a little less stressful & allow you to plan better & be more in control. Also, I am IN LOVE with plastic coffee straws ;p. No calories, no fat & cheap like borscht. Cowboy, Sounds like you're in a perfect spot to quit; wanting an additional 15 pounds. Careful not to let the momentum take you farther than your goals. If you're anything like me, the quit alone will take you most of the way to your goal (weight wise). Doing nothing different is likely to start the process of weight gain. Just be warned that continuing to do nothing will allow the weight gain to continue. ya, I'm still here. I tried to get on last night but internet was down. I've been eating cheerios, popcorn, hard candy, soft candy, chewing gum, eating sunflower seeds, sucking on suckers, drinking lots of water and soda (I quit drinking beer the day before I gave up chew). Almost everything I do used to involve having a chew in my mouth. I hope I don't end up putting on ton of weight, although I could use about 15 pounds to get to my goal weight. Well, I'm off to work. Be back on later. Cowboy... nicotine is nicotine. It is addicting. You can do this... you can. I have to ask...........if you like chewing..isn't gum better than cheerios?
