Hi Cowboy it does get better I promise!!! It may not seem like there is a light at the end of this journey but there is and you will be there soon. One of the guys I work with quit using chew by getting that big chew gum. It comes in different flavors and went through a bunch of it but it worked. He also used the patch. What ever it takes to stay quit then do it. The irritability will also go away. Your doing so well hang in there!! Cowboy, Hang in there! There is tons of stuff you can do to help yourself along. Here are a few to get you started: * Work through the online quit program (lots of good info in there!) * Drink ice water * Chew gum * Chew on a toothpick * Take a walk * Distract yourself Being irritable is also quite common among new quitters. Hey Man, I know the feeling...as do most of the folks around here. Nicotine IS a Grizzly! But I can attest, as can many, many others, that it is so possible and it is oh so worth it to put it down and never again pick it up. Take a look at some of the stats people here have on their quit meters, read some of the posts/conversations. They inspired me when I was quitting smoking. Also, the quit program to your left is invaluable. If you haven't done that, seriously: check it out. But the first question it asks...and that you should ask yourself: "Is your desire to quit stronger than your desire to use tobacco?" If it's to quit, you can do this!! I'm trying to quit chewing again for the third time in two years. Monday was my last chew and I'm going crazy! I'm sitting here with a box of cheerios feeling like I'm gonna explode! I am so full but I have to keep putting stuff in my mouth. Almost makes me wonder if quitting chew is really going to be good for me or not. My father in law passed away a month ago from lung cancer. I guess 3+ packs a day for 35 years can't be good for you. I've always said that chew isn't as bad as smoking but I do get scared whenever I get a sore in my mouth. Now my mouth is all tore up from eating tons of sunflower seeds. I'm pissy, I really want a chew, and I'm trying as hard as I can not to tear my 3-year old's head off for acting like a 3-year old. I can only hope it gets better at some point. I just want to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
