Scared to death

Peter Jennings smoked more than 3 packs per day. Want a better wake up call? Dana Reeve--non smoker---dead of lung cancer--2nd hand smoke killed her. mylast, The last time I got bronchitis and went to the doctor my breathing was bad and I was not getting an adequate percentage of oxegen. I was given a couple of nebulizers and my breathing got better. But this not until after the doctor scared me to death with the E word. She told me it was my wake up call, that I can only naturally expect this after 30 years of smoking. Because the breathing proved to be reversable and improved she took back the E word and left it at bronchitis. I was scared into quitting...it worked. When I think of how Peter Jennings died of lung cancer after having quit so many years prior I know there still is a chance I may I die of a smoking related disease, but odds are better and better every day that I won't. You've made the best choice you've ever made. Use this site to get you through the early tough times. Now I hardly think about smoking. You will reach this day too! Hi mylast Have not had your experience but wanted to let you know that our prayers are with you. Its never easy to get a diagnosis like this. I would go back and ask that question to your doc, just for peace of mind. Congrats on your quit. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 78 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,950 Amount Saved: $390.00 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 7 Mins: 52 Seconds: 27

After a Cat Scan the Dr. said I had mild emphysemal changes in my lungs. I have just quit. Does anybody know if I am doomed to a life of oxygen tanks? I was too scared to ask the Dr. I know that if I quit now it will help but..... Anybody on here have any experience with this disease? Thanks!
