Jean,
It's VERY common on this site for people to come and then in a flash - POOF! They're gone! Some go back to smoking, but others check in every few months to let us all know that they are fine. So not everyone who leaves is smoking. When I first quit, we had a HUGE group of like 60 of us... now, there are very few Smobers who still post regularly and several others who post every few months to let us know they're still quit. But the rest have disapeared. Yes, it's sad when that happens, because we don't know what happened to them, but we shouldn't get discouraged by it because that's their quits, not ours, and they will quit for good when they are ready (if they did in fact go back to smoking).
You know the saying, smart people learn from their own mistakes, but wise people learn from the mistakes of others... and fools just keep making the same mistakes over and over and over again, not realizing that they're even making mistakes at all! I was that fool for a long time until I finally had to learn from my own mistakes in order to quit successfully. But I urge you to be wise... learn from the mistakes of others and don't make them yourself. As many told me on the "If you were to return to smoking..." thread, just because something happens to another person in their quit doesn't mean that it will happen to you. That's good solid thinking. Just concentrate on your OWN quit and let others make the mistakes if they have to in order to eventually be smoke free. I had to make those mistakes for myself, but am smoke free now and that's all that matters! And I know that you will be 700+ days quit someday too!
Crave the Quit!
