I think that the reason there aren't any threads specifically dedicated to addiction is because the topic of addiction is present in virtually every thread on this site! Addiction is at the heart of the reason that we are all here! If nicotine wasn't one of the strongest addictions there is, then there'd be no reason for a support group like this for all of us to help each other quit.
The fact is that nicotine is in fact one of the strongest addictions you can have, and therefore, is one of the toughest to beat. BUT, as we are all proving here, it is definitely possible. However, I do not think that one should go into a quit lightly. Preparation is needed in order to remain smoke free. If you didn't prepare for your quit, but are already quit, it's not too late! I definitely think that having a plan for dealing with cravings is one of the best ways to prevent slips and relapses. Since this can be such a tough addiction to beat, we need to make sure we pull out all the stops in order to ensure success!
