Lainey and Lady! Thanks for your emails. What a wonderful group of people and support that is represented on this site. Bobbi, Just like I've been told here that the "same old me" will come back, I can assure you the "confused state" does pass. Every bit of the pain and weirdness associated with quitting and staying quit is worth it in the long run. Never give up now you've already beaten it! Josie, Thanks for your email. Instead of smoking I'm walking, bike riding and hiking every chance I get. There is nothing that I will allow to be a trigger to make me to smoke again. Hi Willy! And Bobbi, Yes it is temporary! You gotta remember most of us smoked for 10, 20, 30 or more years. You can't just turn the switch on, it takes alittle time. You will feel like your old self again, only better, you'll be calmer, better able to breathe, to laugh without coughing, etc. One day at a time, don't worry the good is all coming! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 91 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,275 Amount Saved: $960.05 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 4 Mins: 15 Seconds: 56

Willy and Bobbi, I too experience a personality change. I am no longer the same person I was before. The changes were difficult but I realize now that I am a much better person than I use to be. I use to hide from emotions, from meeting people, and from living life. I live in a different world now. It's the non smoking world. In this world, I amd outgoing, not afraid to meet others, making new friends and really having a lot of fun. I used to sit on my deck and smoke my life away. Now I experience and enjoy life. We all go through changes, some more than others. During the process, we find a balance with our new smoke free lives. What is important is that you do not smoke. You will really like the new you. Congratulations to both of you on your successful quits!!!! Willy, Welcome and congrats on such wonderful success! You will change for the better and this is normal! If you have symptoms that continue to persist, take the time to check with your doctor, as smoking has a habit of masking problems that were already there. What are you doing with all the extra time? Why not join a group or participate in an activity that you like. Be sure to share with us any concerns or questions, as we are always here to assist you :) Josie, Support Specialist

On October 17, 2006 I stopped smoking a pack and a half a day after 25 years. I have no cravings to smoke again. But I notice I just don't "feel like my old self". Is it common to have a bit of a somber personality change after quitting? If so does it go away in time? Hope to hear your comments. Thanks, Willy
