Easy or hard...
here we are living proof that it's possible
That kind of says it all, doesn't it? Pen, I don't think it's "you need to know it's hard" but rather that when people post that they are struggling, they should receive the help they need from this site... whether they've been quit 1 day of 1,100 days. I agree to a point that if we tell people that it's easy, and here we are living proof that it's possible, then others will follow suit... but what about those who do NOT have an easy quit? Should they shut their mouths and not post because others might see their difficulties? The thing is Pen, new quitters and those thinking about quitting do read those who are struggling and perhaps that's where they get the idea that it's hard. So are you saying that anybody who is struggling should just not post about it for fear that newer quitters will get the impression that the quit is hard? Crave the Quit! As Pentinent says, "When you want to quit more than you want to smoke, it's easy - the converse is also true" I love this motto. This is sooooooooo true. I remember a thread of mine that nearly sparked of World war 3 a few weeks ago!!! Your turn mate! Hey Bear, I know what you are saying but your thread was hijacked! I felt some balance was required! On brainwashing, look, if I told you often enough that you were handsome, eventually you'd start to believe me, wouldn't you?!! ;p If I could brainwash people into thinking quitting smoking was easy I would, it would be worth more than all those commercial aids put together! But, the other way round? Brainwashing people into thinking it's hard? I can see no merit in that! It almost smacks of "I'm struggling and you're going to, too". I know it's dressed up as you really need to know this but you know what, you really don't!! Hope you got a nice cut on the grass and congrats on your 80 days!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/18/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1116 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 22,320 Amount Saved: 5,580.00 Life Gained: Days: 179 Hrs: 5 Mins: 52 Seconds: 49

I,m sorry my darlings but the point has been missed entirely. This was not intended as a discussion about hard or easy but about conditioning of the mind !!Perhaps I did,nt make myself very clear about this. But I have to run to cut some grass but I promise I will be back to clear up what I was trying to say.Love you all.. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 80 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,440 Amount Saved: $800.00 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 6 Mins: 57 Seconds: 9

I could write 5,000 words, maybe more, but I'll just stick to these 18 :) "When you want to quit more than you want to smoke, it's easy - the converse is also true" Penitent on day 1116, still wanting to be quit more than wanting to smoke and therefore finding it very easy!!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/18/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1116 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 22,320 Amount Saved: 5,580.00 Life Gained: Days: 179 Hrs: 5 Mins: 46 Seconds: 3

One more thing... If there's nothing to this quit being hard, and it's all "brainwashing," then please explain to me how people who have never been to this site or any other and know NOTHING about the "30 day pit" seem to have difficulties at this time in the quit? Almost all of my past quits ended right around the 30 day mark... and 2 of my slips on this quit were on day 34 and then 34 days after that (a fact that I didn't realize until AFTER the slip). And so many others who haven't ever heard of this common rough period come here and say that they are having difficulty at that 30 day mark. If it's all brainwashing, then please explain why that happens? Crave the Quit!
