Well of course you need a reward for getting through 2 weeks, a good one too! Congrats for that & keep it up, buddy. Penguin, Rewarding yourself is a great idea. You may not it's an important milestone but we are still very proud to see you reach it :) Have fun camping and be sure to let us know how it went. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Today is the start of week 3!!! I am trying to pump myself up a little. With numerous quits behind me, it is difficult to give yourself recognition fo 2 weeks...you have done it a few times and it just doesn't seem so important a milestone. I guess too, the euphoria of making it through week 1 and 2 is diminishing and it has become tiring, again. Oh, well...it is a phase and it will pass and it will get better and it will be so worth it, and I will continue on. I take off in a couple of days for a 1 1/2 weeks camping vacation. Very much looking forward to a smoke free one. Someone suggested to take something with me to remember all the good people here, and I plan today to get something like that...maybe a reward...a bracelet. Yeah, that is what I need a reward. Remember....post if you need help. It's why this support group works. Hey, penguin. Sorry you had a rough day but good for pulling out of it. Mostly, anyway. Are you sure you shouldn't stick with the program with the patches? I really think it works better if you do. Just a thought of course. I so want this for you! Just thought I'd check in and let you all know how I'm holding up. A couple of days ago, day 8, the thoughts became less frequent which was appreciated as I was getting a little tired. Day 9 wasn't too hard either considering my main control competitor was here (my mother-in-law). I didn't think about putting my patch on until 1130, so today I decided to drop down to the 7 mg. Things went down hill after that...my day started off busy, so I was slightly stressed and then she showed up again, which kind of threw me over the edge and I started craving. It was an emotional crave...anger, frustration, lack of patience....the kind where you want to feel anything other than what you are feeling, so you start thinking about medicating. I did have 'the thought'...just get some smokes...but I was able to easily nip that in the bud...but I was still looking for something....a drink?...food?...chocolate?....coffee?. I stood in the kitchen and said "stop"...."you don't have to feel this way...you are getting ready to spend a lovely day at the beach with your boys, and here I am being pissed off....and I don't even really know why." So I decided not to be pissed off anymore. Didn't really know what I was changing the mindset to....just off I guess. So I was no longer ticked, but the thoughts were back. Lots of smoking going on at the beach. Trying to ignore, yet trying to catch a wiff at the same time. An enjoyable time, yet not....arghh. I have quickly finished up my chores...got my pajamas on and I'm hitting the sack and little early tonight....I'm very tired of this day. Tomorrow is another smoke free day. WWWWHHHHOOOOO HHHHHOOOOO. Penguin, I made the same choice as you not to come to SSC before I smoked. THAT won't happen again. My choices haven't been the best over the past few weeks, and I admire your tenacity to get back up and at it again! In one more day I will be back among the throngs of non smokers once again. To be given another chance is "big". And to actually step up to the plate and do something about it is even bigger!!!!! I'm right along side you, Cheers, Jan :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/24/2007 Smoke-Free Days: -1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: -30 Amount Saved: $-8.50 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: -2061

That's beautiful, penguin & it's so true. Our strength does come from inside us & from our ability to love & be loved. It takes some of us a longer time to really get that. Maybe we can try to just believe it & worry about understanding it later.
