Hang in there: Cherie you are doing exactly what I did. Talking to the board. Get it out of you head and in writing. You are going to make it. I am pulling for us both. N.O.P.E. Sometimes my pain feels unbearable! I don't know about tomorrow or the next day but today I'm doing my best to get through this pain without relapsing. B/c I quit for awhile before I know how good it feels to have the freedom & joy of a non smoker, and I want that back. I also remember what it felt like just a few days ago when I smoked my last cig and tasted those nasty poisons and I don't want to go back to that. The 1st few days it would be gr8 but then within a week all I'll taste are the poisons again. SO WHY WOULD I WANT TO GO BACK TO THAT SHI$. I think NOT!!!!!!! I'm actually having fighting out loud right now with the junkie in my head, for u all to hear:) And by the way, I'm winning again!!!!!!! Whew it's tough. Just breathe....... I agree joyful, Unless we have the attitude of "getting" to build something for ourselves we we only revert back to what we knew. We cannot live as an empty shell. You either become (a)new...or remain (an)old.....being. In order to remain smoke-free we have to change the way we think and have to learn how to deal with our emotions consistently. If we don't change who we are then eventually we will smoke again. The same person will smoke again. Here's something I found today that helped me. Desperation is sometimes as powerful an inspirer as genius. ~ Benjamin Disraeli Times of great difficulty can also be a time of great opportunity for life-changing growth. Usually no one changes unless they HAVE to and no one has to unless the pain of staying the same gets bad enough. Instead of trying to put things back the way they were or pining for what cannot be again, look at pain as what will lead us to a new way of doing things. Use a painful time as an opportunity for growth and learning. When we are in great emotional pain, our normal defense mechanisms and comfort zones are stripped away. While this can be excruciatingly painful, it can also be a time to change your life into everything you always wanted it to be. Just breathe.......
