Thanks boys.
Dog is now back home with shiny white teeth but is totally zonked and is swaying around when he tries to stand. It wasn't fun trying to get him in the car when we left the vet. He's a big heavy dog.
Might join you Bear for a drink but make a soft one. Sadly my days of anything harder are gone.
I'll give your regards to Rory.

Hey Gen,
Wow! Dogs need anasthesia to have their teeth cleaned!? I've never had a dog or cat only goldfish, so never really needed to think about it. Mind you, cuddling a goldfish isn't easy :)
So you will have a great minty smelling dog tonight.

My dog is at the vet today. He's having his teeth cleaned - His breath was so bad you could smell him from across the room! This has involved a general anaesthetic and an all day stay for him.
Having the house empty of him has reminded me of the days when I first stopped smoking. There's just this big gap in my life but actually it's quite nice. Liberation from all those learned behaviours like:
Do no leave the cellar door open or he will get at the cat food, do not open the front door without checking first that there's no postman or newspaper boy, or milkman there. The list goes on and on and it is wierd but nice.
Giving up smoking was wierd too. I had to unlearn behaviour then too but soon realised how nice it was not to have to make all those adjustments to allow me to smoke.
Anyway, the big difference is that the dog thing is temporary and I am about to go and pick him up but the smoking thing is definitely permament!
Just thought I'd share.....
