Leg Discomfort-Cause of Paxil?????

for 20 år siden 0 274 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I have had those strange nerve pain, jerky sensations not only coming off Paxil, but also other anti-depressants. And not only on coming off of them, but during a sleep examination in the hospital, while I was hooked up to electrodes to monitor everything, I was diagnosed with (jerky leg symdrome) among other things. I forget the proper terminology, but it can wake you up during the night, and it has to do with the medications, and the nerves of the legs. I know that some people can get this even without the medications, however, mine was definitely connected to the medications, because when I stopped taking them over a period of time, the shooting nerve pain in my legs stopped too. The doctor said that these, as well as other symptoms I was having were caused by my medications. I used to find one solution to the problem while going to bed at night; that is , I used to rub my legs with a calming aromatherapy oil such as pure lavender or chamomile and olive oil or any good oil on hand, peppermint is good for pain, and that seemed to help relax the nerves in my legs so that I could go to sleep. The medications I am on right now do not give me this side effect any longer. They are probably not as strong as the ones I was taking before, or react in a different way with my nervous system. Hope this helps someone....

Wow! That is odd that you have the same pain at the same time!! My pain is exactly the same!! I went to the ER today and they basically diagnosed me with being more active. I just recently quit my desk job of 4yrs and now I'm cleaning house all day and taking care of my son so they think that my aches are from that, but they also think that my incision scar from my surgery 4yrs ago is infected internally. So now I'm doped up on Loritab and anti-biotics. I'll let you know how it goes. One thing is, maybe you have a bacterial infection of some kind. That's what the anti-botic they gave me was for. I don't know. I'm not a dr. But you know us panic victims.....always worried something major is wrong. All I can say, is get it checked out. That way you will feel better and know what is wrong. Redface: No, I'm not coming off of Paxil and I stopped taking my Wellbutrin about 4wks ago. Could it be a delayed reaction to that? I have heard about people having withdrawal symptoms from Paxil and the like describing them as severe electric shocks through there body at times. That's probably what you felt, huh? Anyway, I feel lots better after the pain pill and I'll keep you updated. Thanks to everyone for their support. Hugs, Misty

I can't believe someone brought this up today! I have been having the worst leg pain for several days now. It only happens at night when I get in bed but last night it was so bad! I tried walking, my husband rubbed & massaged it & nothing worked. The only way I can describe it is a deep ache all the way from my mid-thigh to my foot. Sometimes in both legs but my right leg is always worse. I was planning on searching the net for "leg pain symptoms" & then I saw your post. What timing..huh? Chanda

I did get a tingly kind of nerve pain when I came off of paxil, and some other medications. Did you recently come off of a medication? Just a thought

Thanks for your help. I think I will go to the ER later when my husband gets home. I'm going to take 3 tylenol and lay down. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks, Misty

Michaela, I know it may be simple, but see the doctor! I'm not to happy that your paxil might be causing excrutiating pain. If this is the case, then your doctor needs to know about it. Don't risk your health. Also try a free clinic, they might be able to assist you as well. Please keep us updated, Josie

Michele, So glad your doing better!! I took Paxil for three years and never experienced leg pains as you described. Are you on any other medications at all? My BP medicine causes me to get severe leg cramps, also how active are you in exercise? Do you sit for extremely long periods of time at work or home? The only time I experienced leg pains as you did describe is way before my panic attacks, I was pregnant with my daughter, and the way she was laying compressed a nerve and pinched it in my hip area, causing the burning, searing pain to shoot down my leg, at various times. Kinda felt a tad numb over the area where I got the pain. I would get it checked out by the doctor, it could be something to that effect.

Hi ya'll. I haven't posted here in over a month. I've been doing tons better but now I have a problem and I was wondering if anyone else here has had these symptoms. I've been on Paxil 20mg for over a month now and have had NO side effects whatsoever. Now though I've been getting these sharp shooting pains in my legs and down into my feet and I'm wondering if it's from the medication? 4 yrs ago I had a car accident and ended up with a rod in my left leg and two plates in my right hip. At first I thought the pain might be from those injuries, but now it's sharp and shooting and excrutiating at times. And I've never had pain like that from my injuries before. I haven't done anything strenuous that would cause this and I haven't changed my dosage or stopped or skipped on my paxil. I thought someone on here might know something. I'd rather not pay my dr. the BIG BIG bucks if this is just something normal caused by the Paxil. Thanks for listening. Misty
