Stickin, you are right.our internal dialogue determines what we do. The nicodemon speeks of wanting another fix. I have to consistantly tell myself that I will not take another puff. In the beginning of my quit it was a pretty constant battle. Now I am fussing with ole demon two or three times a day. It always comes at me with reasons why I should feel bad. Each time something doesn't go right it pops up with "you need a smoke".I am on a campaign to not smoke. I'm on a long journey and my intention is to win. Not one puff ever. I have time to regroup between cravings now. I recoginize what it is and I'm getting more control each day. I am much more in tune with myself. I am beginning to know what I want. No drug is swaying my judgement. Thoughts are very powerful. Stay aware of how much time you give them. Thoughts of smoking gets less time each day. Negative thinking is getting less time with me also. I'm doing all the things I did when I smoked without smoking. I'm on a canpaign and I am going to win. Stickin, Well said! One of the most powerful influences you can talk to is yourself. Your inner dialogue can be a powerful tool. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

I had to use tough love on myself quit a bit... "hey you, stop feeling sorry for yourself! MILLIONS of people have quit and you can't?? No WAY! Little old ladies have quit. Hardened prisoners have quit. Hormonal pregnant women have quit. Sick people have quit... You CAN QUIT!!!" Or words to that effect ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 95 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,850 Amount Saved: $1,140.00 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 19 Mins: 44 Seconds: 3

Well Said!!!! From that first 10 hours on I kept saying... I've come 10 hours. I've worked too hard to get here. I'm not going back! Now I can say I've come over two years! I've worked too hard to get here. I'm not going back! I refuse to give in to the addiction again! I refuse to give up my freedom! I refuse to be enslaved by smoking again!!!! Early in my quit, there was a lot of tough love going around on these boards. Yes, quitting sucks! So What!!!! Do it and get it over with. Kick, scream, cry, punch a pillow, break dishes, do whatever you have to do. Just don't smoke! One day at a time. I read this statement somewhere if you can quit for one week, you can quit for good. Do not think slip because someone else has slipped. There is no domino effect here. Dont let others misfortune weaken your resolve, rather listen, understand, and learn. I havent slipped because I dont want to torment myself. I do not relish the thought of starting over. I suppose I am weak however I know my weakness and I have pledge to stay away from it. That one puff, for me no, I am not going to do it, not going through this again. I am not going to throw it all away on something I worked so diligently to achieve. Slips happen, however hard on the individual, they happen One who lives on the fence, is one who lives in anguish. Freedom, it is coming your way; now dont let it slip away.
