Just thought I would chime in here.
In the post about the slipping game.... I stated that slipping has no place in a quit. If you are quit, you don't smoke and if you smoke, you are not quit. The reason I said that is because for about 2 years, I played the game of pretending to be quit and hiding my smoking from everyone. Trust me, it's no way to live. I would let the family go on adventures without me so I could smoke, making excuses I was sick, headache, whatever it took. I would up spending that two years pretty much in solitude because of my hiding with the smokes. They were more important than anything. I was a smoker wanting to be free but didn't know how.
After being quit as long as I have now, I totally see the difference between really being quit and pretending to be quit. It's your meter and your life. What registers on your meter doesn't even matter. It is a tool for YOU and no one else. What does matter is that you quit playing games with yourself! One day at a time, not one puff ever, that is the only way to quit. Is it hard? Yep. Can you do it? Yep. Is it worth it? You better believe it!!!
