Daily Diet

I am forgetting about my weekend eating. It was awful. I am back today. I will post tomorrow what I eat. Since I quit smoking I gained two pounds, lost three, now I am up two. I guess the net effect is one pound less than quit day one. That isn't bad I guess. I am not really overweight but would like to lose three or four more. We'll see. Good luck to every one. I didn't do great yesterday. My son is here visiting and I had to eat with him. Breakfast: 2 kashi waffles with tsp of lite margarine water Lunch: One hamburger no cheese water to drink Dinner: mexican dish consisting of one flour tortilla, refried beans, hamburger, lettuce, salsa and small amount of sour cream, Snacks and/or desert: dried banana chips, weight watcher cake which was probably 3 points. Hopefully I will do better today. I am going to see Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Ray Price in concert tonight at Carolina Crossroads and will probably have dinner there. Hopefully I will find something healthy, If not I will watch my portion size. Sounds like you all are doing great! Lady I know what you mean about not being a morning person! I have a couple of sleep disorders so most mornings, before they were diagnosed and treated, I used to be exhausted, but I've learned some tricks for making a quick yummy breakfast. When I make pancakes, (usually with whole wheat flour, grated apple, sometimes blueberries, etc...), I always make up a huge batch, and make them toaster size. I freeze all the extras. When I wake up tired, I pull a pancake out of the freezer, throw it in the toaster while i wait for the kettle to boil. Doesn't take long, and it's pretty tasty. Another quick, and tasty breakfast, take a whole-wheat fajita shell, spread peanut butter on it, place a banana in the center, and roll it up. There are many recipes out there, that are low in fat, tasty, and can be thrown together in less than 5 minutes (while your coffee is brewing). Good Luck. BTW, I won't be keeping up with posting my diet, went to the doc yesterday, and have lost more weight than I should have in the past 12 days even though I've been eating more than usual, and have other medical symptoms that have my doc concerned. Until my blood tests come back to tell me that I'm not diabetic or have something else wrong, I'm going to be careful with my diet. Good luck to you all! Lady - true about breakfast. I HATED to eat breakfast but couldn't lose weight. When I started eating it, the weight came off a lot easier! My husband complains that when he eats breakfast he is hungrier for lunch. My response "duh, that's because your metabolism is working!". Anyway - can I join too? I do Weight Watchers and have lost 50 but I picked up 10 in dread of this Quit. Not to be presumptuous but if you welcome me: Yesterday: Breakfast: Kashi cereal and blueberries, coffee Lunch: tomato sandwich (we are kindred spirits Lady!) on lite bread, lite mayo Dinner: Grilled salmon, steamed new potatoes and carrots, capers and a salad Snacks: Apple, carrots, Fruit and jello snack (my favorite) and two handful of nuts Thanks! Lady, what Janna is saying about the importance of breakfast is true. Eating breakfast in the morning kickstarts your metabolism, causing you to burn more and store less. If you don't eat breakfast, your body thinks it's starving, goes into survival mode, stops burning and starts storing. This is literal, not figurative. So basically, if you want to lose weight, eat breakfast. Better yet, eat several small meals (at least 5) per day: breakfast, mid morning, lunch, midafternoon, supper (no less than 2 hours before bed). A couple of pieces of fruit or a small salad or some veggies could constitute any of the meals. I generally have a bowl of oatmeal with brown sugar for breakfast, a granola bar midmorning, sandwich and pear for lunch, another granola bar midafternoon, and supper is typical supper. The intent for all this is to get the blood sugar going in the morning and keep it stable throughout the day so the body does not feel it is in survival mode and burns instead of storing. Add some exercise such as walking or taking stairs instead of elevator to the day and even more comes off. This isn't quick loss, but slow and steady and permenant (if you keep it up). Also, ham & pork contain two things detrimental to weight loss: fat and sodium. Switch to turkey and chicken if possible. The brownie is ok, but better to save it for the midafternoon meal. :) One last thing is pop (Coke, Pepsi, etc). The carbonated water and the major dose of sugar will waste any diet. Don't drink the diet versions, either. That crap will kill you as sure as cigs would, just not as obvious or quick. Water, tea, fruit juice work better. Good luck, Lady. Janna, Was there something you wre trying to tell me? :quest: :confuse: :quest: Seriously. I am NOT a breakfast person. I am not a morning person. I do good to get out of bed in the morning let alone hunt for breakfast. My boys live on cereal bars and breakfast bars (love the creators of those things!) I was so bad at lunch today. We have a cafeteria here with a Chef. He makes these brownies that are to die for. So.. do I have to tell you what I did? b. Coffee ;) l. Ham Crossant, (ssshhhhh brownie) d. Not sure yet. I will hit that bike again on my way home in a few minutes. Planning on another 3.5 miles. I go to the DR. in the AM. Let's hope for at least a lb or 2 to be missing when I get there. Have a great one everyone. Lady, You are doing good. Just remember not to starve yourself. It is best to take the weight off slowly. When you starve yourself you will be more likely to fall off. You could add several pieces of fruit and/or veggies to keep you feel full and to still have the satisfaction of eating. Also, you should eat something for breakfast even if its only a piece of dry toast. Another good breakfast item are those fat free frozen waffles. I hope I don't sound too bossy.
