Penguin, thanks for thoughts. Glad you managed to remove the chatter. Nice to see a fellow firecracker doing well! Sue, don't worry you'll look great in that bathing suit! Ask John and he will say the same. I don't mind exercising as long as I have my music player on. They reckon 30 mins walking is great for you and actually a better fat burner than running. And of course a lot better on the body joints. I have actually gone out nearly every day and doing 30 mins fast walking. It does help the craves too! I'll be happy when I go from mostly craves to mostly smoking thoughts. Now that I have had my mind put at ease then I can carry on. It is what i needed. I will check again at some point in the future. In the meantime, I promise to my wonderful friends at SSC and to my friend and quit buddy that I WILL NOT SMOKE during startdust week. I will renew my pledge on Thursday or earlier if needed. Kev, you are doing so awesome, I am thrilled for you. Loved seeing your pic ;) I force myself to exercise, hate it, have to do it - BIG REWARD coming up in Oct that requires, well, bathing suits. :( Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 105 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,050 Amount Saved: $183.75 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 1 Mins: 3 Seconds: 27

Way to go fellow firecracker!!!! On your theory....I to have been an over analyzer, but in the last 2 years done a lot of work on controlling the constant chatter in my head. It can be done and yes will take time. For starters...be the watcher of your thoughts...don't react, don't analyze....just watch. It will be enlightening. When the ego knows it is being watched it's amazing how quiet it will become. Don't have the conversations with the Junkie. I caught myself doing that today, and once I realized I was having the conversation I Yelled SHUTUP...I AM NOT HAVING THIS CONVERSATION....THERE IS NO CONVERSATION TO BE HAD....THE END. (Yes out loud...I was out on my walk). You are doing great. Don't worry about the future, forget about the past..it is gone. The only important thing is right NOW...this very moment, and ...........you are not smoking right now. PERIOD. Hey, Kev. You are doing so AWESOME!!! Freemom is right, it is all bull**t & it is a very liberating moment when you are able to call out the junkie for the lying, cheating, coward that he is. If you don't feel you're there yet, you will be soon. You might try upping your exercise level now, Kev. I found & so did some others, that some of the anxiety & general weirdness at this point was because of extra energy from more oxygen & better sleep. You are looking fabulous!! JDK, Thread 10 is all locked up and headed for the archives. :) Welcome to the 30 day pit! A stage where the psychological comes into play. It may be time to get back to basics and take a closer look at your craves. Are you craving at particular times? places? situations? Find the pattern and break it. Also don't forget to continue with your reward system :) Keep persevering!

Kev Thanks for the promise :) I think you're right that people who tend to think a lot, or live in their heads, tend to have a more difficult time than people who are more action-oriented, i.e., "just do it" Maybe because the latter distract themselves more, while the former dwell on the missing subtance more? Blue Cloud, Excellent suggestion!! So good for changing things to the positive, right, Kev? ;) Have a good evening, Kev -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 147 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,880 Amount Saved: $999.60 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 13 Mins: 6 Seconds: 33

Freemom/Gen, thanks for your posts. I am not sure I am strong enough mentally for that yet. But I will keep trying. A Kev theory coming up (WARNING! :) ) There are certain types of people who just say 'no' to the nicodemon and move on. I do see it on this site for sure. The strong powerful characters here. Now I have a theory : Naturally in life, I am the quiet person in the room just listening to what everyone says, never asking questions, just listening to answers, attempting not to be noticed. Never sure, always rechecking. In order to be one that says 'no' and just move on I need to change many aspects of my personality makeup. It could take many years. I spend way too much analysing everything as usual. :) Its not only smoking it relates to but everything. Do you think there is any truth to it or is it a hogwash theory? Keep in mind I am trying to explain to myself why I struggle so much with my quit compared to others. I'll accept all and every thoughts. I could also be worrying too much about my ability to stay quit. This is a bit of a mind dump of a very much struggling quitter and me attempting to improve on my strategies that are within my capabilities.
