A DRUGGED OUT SOCIETY?

Me???? I thought I offended you and I didn't mean to. I was just putting my two cents in and then I began to over analyse it all (imagine that). I got upset and let it all get to me again like I typically do. I hate the medication scenario. We've had this conversation before. I didn't mean to take over the thread or step on any toes. You know how much you mean to me. I would certainly hope you call me your dear friend. We've been around each other for a long time now. Only one question my (do I dare say) dear friend. Why would you in a million years think that you had to walk away from this forum when you were the one person who actually made a difference? All the rest was a continuing saga of (General Hospital), (Days of my Life) or on the other deep end (Six Feet Under) and (Sex and the City) Glad you are back and keep putting a foot where it belongs while you are here. Whoa, everybody. Lady, you are not over-sensitive. You are exactly sensitive enough, in my experience. Duffis, you did not attack anyone or imply that all drugs are the easy way out. Some are & some people will jump on that, thinking it means they don't have to work for their recovery or wellness or quit. They are wrong. There is no magic bullet to health or recovery from addiction. We all must do our part for ourselves & help each other where we can. We all are responsible for gathering our own facts & making our own decisions, not always doing the easy thing. We all ARE, regardless of the method chosen, doing the hard thing & some of us are doing more than one hard thing at once. We are all winners because we are all quitters! I apologize for getting this post off track. I am over sensitive. Great debate going on here. I will quietly bow out now. Penguin I have already apologized a thousend times, however if you are indeed suffering from metastic brest cancer I doubly apologize. This post started out in one direction and over sensitive people have turned into something else. I certanly didn't mean it to become personal, yet is has. For all you who need reminding, I had prostrate cancer, went through hell, drugs, chemo, sicker that twenty shades of hell did I give in to drugs...........hell yes and then some. Like every thing else in life there is times when there is need for the right drug. I was only refering to the missuse that has become the problem for addiction in this country of ours, crime, murder, mayhem, armed robbery, rape and on and on it goes. Good people may be but drugged out of their minds they know not right from wrong. Please keep this post alive, positive and get it back on track. We as citizens of any country have the responsibility to address the growing drug problem. Since this seemed to be such a hot topic, I decided to go and read the article on-line. Wanted to get the info from the source. There were a number of reasons cited for the increase in usage- chronic pain management, post-operative pain management, disability pain mangement, cancer pain management. Of course these drugs, being that they are narcotics, are guess what ----ADDICTIVE. So while there are some consuming these drugs for very valid reasons, there are others who are addicted - that is where the numbers get skewed. Interesting though how it could be seen as taking the 'easy way out', when you are suffering from metastatic breast cancer! No offense taken, Bob. The thread started out one way and veered somewhere else. This is a sensitive issue for many of us. We all have to decide for ourselves and with our medical team what is best for us.
