Hey thats a good idea Erica. Maybe a type of desensatation. I know I'm in a bad cycle now and need to get away from the irrational thoughts. Thanks

Please don't be embarrassed! Panic is a very very strange disorder that really interrupts our thought patterns! But like the previous post I am in the bathroom a lot when my anxiety is really bad and when I have to go I have to go. Everyone has their own irrational fears. You will be okay! Start practicing going in there when you don't have to go and just sit on the pot for a little bit and work on that everyday. It might help. I'm learning that with all my fears baby steps have to be taken. No matter crazy they may seem to others. Hang in there. You've got support! Erica

Thanks Trish for responding. Its such a weird thing I wasn't sure if anyone would. The panic is associated to the BM's. I get all nervous and think I'm being watched. I can be in a bathroom, cleaning, make-up stuff like that and am fine. I really rack my brain in figuring out how all this started. One therapist told me it stems back to my childhood potty training. I don't know if that is true or not, but it sure is frustrating now. Maybe stuff from my past is creeping up because I'm so emotionally vunerable right now. Thanks so much for the encouragement Trish. I'm starting to practise my relaxation again and deep breathing. Hopefully that will help get it under control.

Essie, Although I don't have them directly from the thought of going through the bathroom door. I have had panic attacks so bad, that I had to go right then and there, very loose, and one time had a panic attack so bad, didnt even make it to the bathroom, it was scary. Perhaps your associating the panic with the bathroom itself, since your literally shaking as you approach it. Im the same with cars, etc. or places. Yet your right, it is not a place you can avoid. Have you tried during the day, when you dont feel the need to go, to just walk and stand in the bathroom, and see if that is anxiety provoking? Or is it more that you do fine in the bathroom for cleaning etc, and it only happens when you need to have a bowel movement?

I'm not joking, I think its the most bizarre phobia ever. My worse panic attacks happen in the bathroom when attempting a BM. I have a horribly "shy bowel" and I swear I'm the only person to have panic attacks on the pot. I'm really not a freak, but , a well educated mother with 5 children and going through a really hard time now. I had this in the past, but it was like 12 years ago and went away...but its all coming back. How does one even begin to not have anxiety with something they CAN NEVER avoid? I just shake when approaching my bathroom. I do have GAD and have taken meds before, but they don't seem to be working as well now. I just really need to know I'm not alone and that there is help for me. (no one knows I deal with this except dh, and a good friend). Its really embarrassing for me to even admit.
