quignov, Not sure if you have already left but my advice (as always) is to not underestimate the power of...REWARDS! There are lots of great vacation rewards that you can give yourself, every day if you need to. Have a great time and just think of how your meter will look when you get back! Unhooked makes good points about the lack of memory associations in unfamiliar places, and about how to handle triggers if they happen. My first vacation was just that type of experience, only a few craves that were easily banished with distractions. Good luck to you and have fun! :) ElderOne My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 829 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 16,580 Amount Saved: $3,929.46 Life Gained: Days: 151 Hrs: 6 Mins: 41 Seconds: 27

quig How fun. I agree with unhooked...esp on the taking some printed out posts (Cindy had a good compilation the other day). I took one page with me and kept it near. I like John's suggestion of keeping it where he used to keep his cigs. And yes, it is so nice to be able to sit back and relax on the plane rather than constantly be craving a cigarette. Hey, quig. Lucky you to be going on vacation! Some people find that they have no problems a t all because their old familiar triggers aren't there & they're out of their routine. Hopefully, it will go that way for you. But good for you for looking ahead & being prepared. You can try taking your reasons for quitting and soem of your favourite posts from here, along with you. Also, take a journal woth you & write in it when you want to post but can't get to a computer. Then also write what you imagine the responses might be. Those are things that I ahve found helpful, I'm sure there will be other ides aswell. Most important, have a wonderful time! As the topic title says, I'm going on vacation for a week. Any suggestions for dealing with vacations, especially so soon after quitting? As I'll be in new places, I have a feeling that urges may come on more frequently and/or strongly... I'm unsure. Although, I do know that it'll be nice not being in a hurry to get off the plane so that I can run outside and smoke even before getting my luggage !! :) cheers, quig My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 140 Amount Saved: $28.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 7 Mins: 34 Seconds: 55
