Rachele, I thank you again for the support. I will attend my church tommorrow, but I am not as afraid as I was yesterday to leave house. You are right, it can be done. I hope all is good with you and you too will have a great weekend! Jodi
Jodi, I was so HAPPY to hear that you had a successful "trip". When I hear about people doing difficult things like your car ride it encourages me. Like, "See, it can be done Rachele". Thanks for taking the time to write back and let me know!! Hope you can enjoy some of the weekend and I hope the doctor had some good advice for you. Rachele
Jodi, you mentioned you listened to Christian music. I just wanted to say that your faith in God can have a big impact on reducing anxiety attacks; don't underestimate it. :-)
Rachele, I just got home. I did take a xanax before I left and I brought good christian music. The thoughts did start creeping up, but I remembered what you said and it helped so much. I made it there and back without having a panic attack! Thank you for listening.
Jodi, just keep telling yourself that you have to get to the doctor because he/she is going to help take all this fear away. If you have used self-soothing methods in the past like a heating pad, relaxation tape, a certain book, music, etc. take it with you. I would call ahead and make sure that they are running on time too so that you can go right in. Repeat to yourself stuff like €œthese are just thoughts they can€™t hurt me€ and €œif I don€™t react to these thoughts they can€™t escalate€. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Rachele
I have a doctor appointment in about 2 hours. It will take about 45 min. for me to get there. My husband is going to drive me, but I am so afraid that I'm going to have a panic attack. I've been housebound. Is there any self talk I can do?
