Hi Freemom,
Great a music thread. Now I can give back properly :)
Working on your musical taste How about...
Avril Lavigne - The best damned thing (actually a really happy album.)
Green Day - early stuff (punky)
Offspring - Smash (punky)
B52's - Bouncing off the Satellites (happy happy happy)
Evanescence - The Open Door (quite rocky)
Metallica - St Anger (your lifestyle determines your deathstyle)
Pendulum - Hold Your Colour (for the energetic walking - I defy you not to move to it)
...and that is just for starters. Let me know if you want more.
Kev

Hey Quit Sis,
We have a lot of the same tunes on our walkmans (okay they are mp3 players now :)) We should try to get to a hundred miles before July or so. I tried on the ship, but I kept getting lost. ;p
Have a great day.

Freemom,
Years ago in the back of some fitness magazines a friend loaned me you could purchase cd's with music that if you kept up with the beat you would be walking 3.5, 4.0, etc. miles per hour (each cd was a different speed). Next time you're in a drugstore check out some fitness mags and see if they still have them. I'm sorry I can't remember the titles (and I was smoking then, geez maybe this memory thing isn't all smoking related!). I am an avid walker- good luck, this is a great low impact exercise.

Members,
Confirm with your doctor and come up with an eating and exercise plan that is right for you. Freemom is right, music can get you going and keep you pumped. Make sure your introduce lots of water, and make those snacks good ones!
It won't happen over night, but with determination and perseverance, it will happen :)

Hi. I've been avoiding this thread since I was concentrating on my quit, but somehow all my clothes have shrunk and to make matters worse someone must have altered my scale to register 8-10 pounds over! LOL
Anyway, as the weather is finally nice I've started walking in the mornings and wanted to share and get ideas for tunes to walk to.
I find myself keeping pace with the beat, so I get a better workout.
Here are some of my current faves :
"Man, I Feel Like a Woman","That Don't Impress Me Much" and "Up Up Up" all by Shania Twain
"Soak up the Sun" by Sheryl Crow
"Since U Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson and
"1985" by Bowling For Soup
I'd love some more suggestions as I'm trying to get back in shape before summer hits!
Thanks!
