cuss, cry, kick, every thing except smoke. I don't know the answers. I am looking for them too. I am just glad that I do know that smoking will NOT help anything. A person much smarter than me said. We move on with our lives. We deal with stress without smoking. The fleeting thought may occur but we refuse to act on it. Why? Because we worked to hard to develop our smoke free lives!!! Even when knocked on our rear ends we still don't smoke. Aren't we awesome???? Hey, Lady. When I'm in a stressful or frustrating or nerve-wracking situation, I do everything I did when I smoked, except the smoking. I take myself away from the immdiate situation, I get a drink of water or take a short walk for distraction. While I'm doing that, I breathe deeply and calm down. If I'm really upset, I think about soemthing else until I'm settled down enough to think about the problem at hand. Then I go back to the situation ready to deal with it logically & calmly. Well, not every time. Somtimes I have to repeat those steps. But, see? It's all the same things we do when we go for a smoke, and it's those actions that actually calm us down, the getting away, the distraction, the breathing, etc. that actually calmed us. It never wasg the smoking. Have a ood day, Lady, & do something nice for yourself, OK? I think you have a little reward coming for the tough times you've been having. Hey Lady. I look at it from a new point of view. As a smoker, when a stressful event happened, I smoked until I had drowned enough of the stress to continue on. (Very early on this year I went through about a month and a half of really bad stress at work. I smoked my brains out, and it wasn't helping. It just made me feel sick. I think thats one of the reason I decided to try and quit again in March.) Now, seven months later, I have learned this. When I get hit with the stress, or a bad situation,or trouble with my kids, smoking doesn't come into the picture. Now the first thought in my head is "What can I do now? How can I solve this one?" There is nothing that can be made better by a cigarette, ever! NOPE. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 225 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,625 Amount Saved: $2,373.75 Life Gained: Days: 27 Hrs: 11 Mins: 49 Seconds: 45

I know there are those of you that can't relate to this yet but you will be able to one day in the not too distant future. Remember when smoking a cigarette was the solution to everything? When things got to be too much, stress levels were too high, finances too short, kids too loud, and everything seemed to be falling apart? We went, we lit up, took our time out and returned to our orginal programming ready to go. The break was taken and we were back ready to take on the problems of the day. We took that time out to think, smoke, put everything in perspective and move forward. As quitters, that no longer works. As early quitters we believe it will work but as long term quitters, the thought that it will work even fades. We have gained knowledge and we now KNOW that smoking doesn't help or fix anything. What works after you quit? How do we deal with the issues that knock our feet from under us? The issues that take the wind out of our sails? The issues that make us want to give up? The issues that make us wonder why we are here in the first place. What do you do when smoking is no longer the answer?
