Hey Trace -- Congrats, congrats! It is totally up to you on the weight issues. Last (and only previous) quit, I lost LOTS of weight - I was so terrified I would gain, I went overboard on exercise and dieting, which I think actually hurt my my quit. This time, I lived on suckers (you would never have guessed) and lots of SF, FF pudding and jello and ate lots of small meals. I have lost about 5 pounds during my 62 days and haven't even kicked up the exercise yet. You don't HAVE to gain - you just have to keep the quit! Hang in there! Walking really helps too Tracey, 30 minutes three times a week is apparently all we need to be slim and trim and you're supposed to walk fast like you missed an appointment. It does work, I know that much! Good luck to you! Keep your quit! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 228 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,700 Amount Saved: $2,405.40 Life Gained: Days: 27 Hrs: 22 Mins: 11 Seconds: 55

Congratulations on making 4 days! That is great! Most quitters have a tendancy to gain 5 to 6 pounds in the first month of stopping. Some quitters gain more than this but it can usually be attributed to over-eating or lack of excerise. Smoking increases your metabolism so when you quit it will slow down. Keep moving and keep up the great work! Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Its an individual thing Trac, some gain, some lose. I gained 17lbs this quit. Other times I gained more, once I even lost weight. It all seems to depend on each indivual's body and timing. It does level off at about six months or so, I found, and I am now working on the reversal of that trend and have lost about 6lbs (Yippee!) The common thought here is, do your quit first, get the important and hard stuff out of the way first, dieting isn't that hard, you can always do that later! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 228 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,700 Amount Saved: $2,405.40 Life Gained: Days: 27 Hrs: 21 Mins: 12 Seconds: 39
