Hi Amy, My name is Jason. I have had attacks so horrible that they lasted two hours. Wave after wave of panic. Basically having 5 panic attacks in two hours! Everthing you feel is normal after such a devastating attack. You will get better though so never give up! Jason

When I had bad panic attacks (lasted 12 years -- last one in '96) I'd always have the "gotta run away" feeling. Usually I'd stick my head out the window or sit in front of a fan or air conditioner but once, while I was on the psych unit, I actually DID try to run and I FAINTED! Dead away. don't know how long I was out -- [robably only seconds -- but I woke up on the floor staring up into the faces of the nurses.

Oops, I knew there was something I wanted to add. If you haven't done so already, get everything you can to read on panic/anxiety. The stuff is usually in the self-improvement sections of the bookstores or you can order online. I particularly recommend books by Dr. Claire Weekes because they are a bit older than lots of others and address EVERY issue of panic/anxiety. The more info you have the more your mind can dispute the panic. ok, now I think I remembered everything. Rachele

Amy, my heart goes out to you. I have had those kind of "force 10" attacks and they can be devastating. I actually had a friend take me to the psychiatric hospital after a game of tennis because I was so terrified. Whenever I have those kinds of attacks I feel utterly exhausted after, almost like I am suffering from the flu. I just do whatever I can to take care of myself for a few days after. There are certain things that make me feel a little better, or more safe or something... not sure how to describe it... but I do them all. Definitely follow up with your doctor because mine gave me something to take as needed when I get a strong attack. It has the nice side effect of making me drowsy which is useful at night. Take care, Rachele

Amy, My thoughts go out to you. I can hear how terrifying this attack was for you. I can't say that I have ever had one to that magnitude but there have been plenty of times I thought I was going to die. One thing I have learned over the years is that I have to trust someone. As hard as it is trust your Dr. and walk through the fear. Sounds easy and I know it isn't but we have to start somewhere. I am thinking about you and hoping you are feeling better soon. :)

I had a major panic attack today. The worst its ever been. My husband was driving and I actually tried to jump out of the moving car because I was so scared. I ended up in the ER and they told me it was a panic attack. The doctor was very nice and told me they have done almost all the tests they can do and I am 29 with NO risk factors. Now I sit here an hour later still feeling bad. I am so tired and dizzy...my whole body hurts and when i get up to walk from room to room my heart starts racing. Anyone else have this after a major panic attack?? Why can't I believe him?? I can't believe panic and anxiety can be this bad!!!!!!! The ER doctor did say give me a a prescption for Paxil and told me to follow up with my doctor. Anyone else have these kinds of experiences??
