Thoughts for Chantix Users

Well, hubby and I both used Chantix. His doctor recommended using it for a full six months because studies had shown that success increases greatly if you use the medication for this time period. This held very true, especially for my husband, who had a couple of slips. I believe that Chantix kept him from throwing in the towel completely because when he did smoke, it didn't give him the satisfaction he wanted. My experience was very similar to yours. I found that after about four months, I would often forget to take the medication (almost every morning). So, I tried to make sure that I at least took the nighttime dose. Then, I started forgetting to take that dose. After almost a week of not taking the medication at all, I just went ahead and stopped altogether. This was probably after taking the medication for about five months. Hello All, It is day 88 of my quit and I am still going strong. I use Chantix for this quit and it truly help me a lot. It was truly my wonder drug. But a funny thing happen recently...0 One day last week I got so busys at work I just completely for got to take my Chantix, and by the time I realize this I was home and ready to go to bed.So I just did take any at all. The next day I thought about it and decided to take my Chantix only if I felt a real need. Only if that habit just won't stop bothering me. It been 7 days now and I have only had to take Chantix once. So now I am at the point in the game that I only plan on taking it if I think I need to not on a regluar basis any more. I had a plan to ween myself off it the drug but since this natural event happen I think I am just going to keep on going. I have about 2 1/2 week supply left as a safety net so if I think I need to reach for one I can. I am not sure how many other people out there just drop off the drug cycle like I did and remain smoke free as I have but it feel great. I am glad my body found it own way to ween itself from the drug. Well all, I wish you continue luck in all you do... This site has truly help and I am so happy they have the craving diary so I can see my progress.
