I didn't say what I did to get this board more active and was very surprized to see so much activity. It has been almost a month for me and I'm doing ok but some cravings have blindsided me lately. I may have missed the 2nd pills a few times and I don't think I'd be smoke free this long without chantix. It hasn't been a good week and maybe that's whats making me think of a smoke and a fix. all the best My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 25 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 425 Amount Saved: $100.00 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 16 Mins: 24 Seconds: 2

Mr Lucky, the boards vary. Sometimes they are more active than others. Starting a new thread will always get a response. I agree about the lack of support from friends. Non-smoking friends don't understand what a huge deal it is. After all, they have always not smoked. It hasn't been a big deal to them. What surprised me was the reaction from my smoking friends. So, I would have to say another thing to expect when you quit is...wait...let's say...try not to have great expectations from those around you. They will do their best but may fall short. What I didn't expect... I was making green chili last night. I was shredding the chicken by hand which I always do and never enjoy. It is a very tedious chore and when I make chili I make this giant pot and freeze a bunch which mean shredding a large amount of chicken. Anyway, I guess I haven't made any since I quit cuz after about 15 minutes of shredding I got this intense urge to smoke that took me by surprise and about knocked me over for a couple seconds. A sign to me that I needed a break from cooking. Good thing I realized that it was a break I needed and not a smoke. Break does not equal smoke! I stepped back, walked into another room, took a drink of tea, exhaled, laughed and went back to work. Whew. Expect to be struck by surprise every so often. And, be prepared! :) Long winded today! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 63 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,890 Amount Saved: $368.55 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 15 Mins: 58 Seconds: 18

Another one bits the dust. And just what did you EXPECT Mr Lucky a whole brass band in your honour just because you quit.Or how about a kiss on the mouth from a Bear. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 221 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,978 Amount Saved: $2,210.00 Life Gained: Days: 50 Hrs: 12 Mins: 0 Seconds: 45

Where are we...around the one month mark?? Well, The season may be changing...This may be a trigger because you have not Not smoked, say, in the summer, on your porch, you can image the senario. Okay. Each season will also bring smoking "memories." After you go through something, like holidays, events, seasons, then it is just one more hurdle that you have jumped over. *Not one person has mentioned missing smoking in the winter! :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 292 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,380 Amount Saved: $1,226.40 Life Gained: Days: 27 Hrs: 1 Mins: 22 Seconds: 29

Back to what to expect, after the first two weeks are through, you will feel much better and will start noticing that you forget about smoking here & there. It gets better every day. Your breathing gets better. Your sinuses clear. You may still have the odd depressive spell, (and vitamin B complex helps with that) if it gets really bad, check with your Doc. You may run into some 'anniversary craves or pits' at 30, 60 or 90 days, or you may be one of the lucky ones, who are never bothered by it. It seems to be the junkie's last kick at trying to win you back. Self talk is very helpful through out your quit. Our motto here is: Not One Puff Ever! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 236 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,900 Amount Saved: $2,489.80 Life Gained: Days: 28 Hrs: 19 Mins: 2 Seconds: 13

Mrlucky, The boards are what you make of it. You have to reach out for people to grab hold. Everyone who participates must be proactive. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist
