Sarah, How wonderful for you. What happy happy news! During my pregnancy with my son I was on top of the world, I recently had a preg scare {Lots of Posts of it} because of my age I was concerned, it looks like I am NOT pregnant, which is good now for me, but I am estatic you are. My panic and anxiety were zero, every woman worries a little, thats normal especially with her first, please get the book "What to expect when your expecting" a great book very upbeat and positive! I was tired and naucous too with my son, lots of naps and sleep and try "cheetos" for the nausea my OB-GYN told me that and it worked, not the cheese puffs but cheetos, worked better than crackers! I am so very happy for you, you are going to have a marvelous pregnancy and a beautiful healthy baby! Eat some candy, its good for the brain and the baby! COngrats again! Debbie.

Thank you so much for your posts, thay were really nice to her. My husband and I wanrt to start trying for a baby but I have been putting it off with the fear of having worse anxiety . I am SO SCARED of PPD I know a few who had it and its scary! I hope I dont get it, I have been med free for a long time now and I really would like to stay that way. All the women I know who had PPD had to go on meds and are still on them. I was so worried that because of my history I would be at a high risk of getting it. Does anyone have any more positive stories and pregancy? I would love to hear them.

Congratulations! Pregnancy is an interesting experience. I've dealt with panic off and on for many years. I thought that being pregnant would cause more panic and anxiety problems. Both times when I was pregnant my panic was controlled. I don't do well with any medical procedures, hate naseousness (sp) and have to lay down when taking blood or I faint. My panic was fine during my pregnancies. I don't remember having any panic attacks with my son and I only remember having one with my daughter. I also didn't have any problems post partem. Hope all goes well with your pregnancy! Rachel

Thanks, Michael P, for the good words of advice. It's true - my panic has all but disappeared (knock on wood). The ultrasound was fine - I'm five weeks along. Too soon to see the fetus on ultrasound, so I have to go back for another one to get a due date. I also worked in an NICU for 2 1/2 years, so I'm making a big effort to forget everything I learned, saw, & heard there. A huge percentage of women have normal pregnancies and births, right? Thanks for the support. Sarah A very happy mummy-to-be :)

I hear that due to hormonal changes, panic goes into remission during pregnancy and sometimes causes panic post partum. congrats

Two home pregnancy tests, multiple symptoms and a visit to my GP (they did not take a blood test to confirm) and an ultrasound planned for tomorrow, tells me that my husband and I are going to have a baby! Now the anxiety kicks in. I'm pretty sure I'm pregnant. My husband thinks I'm pregnant. My doctor thinks I'm pregnant, so much so that she was confident enough not to confirm it with a blood test, but instead has ordered an ultrasound for fetal age. I know I'm a dork, but can anyone reassure me that home pregnancy tests don't give false positive results? I want to be pregnant so badly. I'm terrified I'm going to walk into the ultrasound tomorrow and they're not going to find anything. They're going to tell me I'm nuts and send me home. As well, can anyone tell me how their anxiety reacted when they became preganant? Any help would be appreciated. One nervous mummy to be, Sarah :)
