Just don't give up Queen. Start over again and don't look back. You aren't weak...it's just a dang addiction. I'm struggling today and I hope it gets easier as they say it does and it can for you too. Hang in there. queen You are not weak, you are addicted, as are we all. There is no shame in starting over, the shame would be in not doing so. One of the greatest lessons I have learned in all of this is to always remember that smoking is a reward system. We used cigarettes to get ourselves through uncomfortable situations, when we where tired, when we felt hopeless and even when we where happy...The key is to recognize that fact and then understand that we still need rewards (comfort in the storm if you will), but those rewards can not be in the form of a cigarette...If I have learned anything from this experience it is that I have a deep well of resolve from which I can pull alternate means of soothing my being sans cigarettes. And so will you. You are not giving up anything by quitting...You are simply acquiring the ability to creatively heal yourself by utilizing the resources that have always been withing you... Stay with us a while longer, you can do this... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 349 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,470 Amount Saved: $3,664.50 Life Gained: Days: 63 Hrs: 16 Mins: 10 Seconds: 41

Hi Queen, I have a roommate that smokes. In the past, I have also bummed cigs off of him, telling myself that I could just have one..you know..to ease the pain of the craving. Maybe I would go the rest of the day without smoking, but the next day I would usually smoke again. You should read Tom's thread "story of a former smoker". The feelings will be all too familiar and the ending remains the same. It leads right back to the addiction becoming full blown again. You will find your way. It can take many trys before you are successful in this quit smoking journey. As we all say, just don't quit quitting and you will do it. It's just a slip, queen, it doesn't have to be a relapse. Learn from it & take that knowledge with you as you get right back on. Review your reasons, get out your coping strategies & start again. You can do it & you have all of us doing it with you. There is nothing wrong with starting over again. I have done that myself several times. We never know what quitting is going to be like when we first start this adventure. For some they put them down and never look back and for some of us we have to keep learning and relearning until one day we make it another day and then another and then another. It was told to me and I will tell you "never ever give up quitting, you will never know when it will happen." I believe you want this, but you need to work the tools on the left and get tools in place. Preparation is required for success. We are here for, please join us. Queen, did those cigs help improve your day? Did they change anything? Do you feel better? Revist your reasons for quitting and the program to your left and keep them handy. If you try again, and i hope you do, then next time ask for help here, wait for 5-10 replies before you do anything. The cravings will only stop if you keep quitting. I am here whenever you are ready :) Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 205 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,050 Amount Saved: $358.75 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 12 Mins: 3 Seconds: 54

Queen- I would begin again and spend some time asking yourself how you can protect your quit the next time you feel like "you cannot help yourself"... You CAN, just don't smoke, not one puff, EVER... that is the rule around here, and believe me it will keep you quit, no matter what... Queen, Entirely up to you. You can keep smoking or you can stop this slip dead in it's track and get back on the wagon. Slips happen. Learn from it and use it to strengthen your quit plan. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist
