Gin, Just keep doing it till you get it right I know you will. I know the trigger of having someone smoke in your house. My brother has been here on the weekends helping us do construction and he does 2 pack a day in and out of my house. He leaves on Sunday afternoon and by Sunday nights I swear I am in hell week all over again. Once again this weekend I will ask him to smoke outside but I know it will not work. Hang in there kiddo you can do this. Thanks a whole bunch guys...My first day and I'm doing all right. I think my past quits and slips helped me in the experience of quitting again. I'm really struggling right now with my arm...it's in a sling and it makes it hard to do anything. Can't wear my winter jacket properly and it's pretty cold outside. But not enough excuse to start smoking again. I can't let stresses in my life trigger slips and slip again. I'm going to call my friend Betty later on tonight...she quit for 20 years now and use to smoke 3 packs a day...really. She's also an inspiration for me and I don't want to let her down again. She's worked hard to keep me clean and I want to stay clean this time. I don't want to be a disappointment for you guys either. You've been here for me and I really appreciate it. Will talk to you later...take care all. Gin, first of all you are not a loser, so stop that. Second take a really hard look at why you want to quit. The single most important thing to look for is "are you quitting for you?" If you can answer that with a resounding yes, then go for it. I have relapsed so many times that I have lost count. With each relapse I learned a little more about the process. Withdrawal and the thought process are strange bedfellows. Please read the tools on the left. Just because I slipped so many times doesn't mean you can :eg: What I did with one of my longest quits was wear a rubber band around my wrist and every time I thought about smoking I would snap it. Boy that hurts, but it worked for some time. With each week I got I would add another band. I have tried about everything under the sun to quit. I would think that I failed and in that mind set I had. But someone a long time told me never ever give up quitting because one day it would happen and as of today it has. I took Chantix with this quit. It is expense but so worth the money. You may want to talk to your doctor. Gin please keep the quit it is so worth it and don't worry about your friends they should understand. Glad that you posted. Awwwww, Gin, You are not a loser! A fighter for sure. Re-read a few of your "do over" posts. You have been one tough cookie!!Starting over is no easy task. But,yet you keep giving it a go. You just need to fight a little harder in your quit. And you know, that beating yourself up will not help you at all!! Did you read the quote of the day? "It's how you deal with failure that determines how you achieve success" David Feherty.... That my friend is a quote we all can live and learn by! Don't give up quitting. And don't just try, you can do it!! :) keep up the fight!!! Well Gin, I guess that your human. Last weekend I went to friends' house to watch a hockey game. He still smokes, knows I've quit, and still smoked all through the game. I ate a bag of Doritos. I smoked for 35 years, and I decided it just isn't worth it to smoke. You decided the same thing. You just had a weak moment. Now I know you live in Canada. Invite your friend over, but tell her if she wants to smoke she's got to go outside. Tell her to leave her coat inside. I bet she'll get the hint. Good luck with your quit...remember you're worth it. Hi everybody, Well I slipped and I could kick myself. I'm really angry at the whole situation. I don't know what I can do to get a grip on it. I think I'm ready to quit so what's the problem? What happened yesterday a friend of mine came over and she smokes. I should have said something but I didn't and it triggered me big time. I don't think my friend will be over for quite a long time now so I'm in the clear for a while. I think I'm going to tell her not to smoke in my apartment. I just hope she'll understand. I was amazed at how much she smoked...she had 4 cigarettes in an hour. I'm back on the patch and giving it my best...I'm setting my mind to it. I just have to be careful and watchout for H.A.L.T. ... not to be hungry, angry, lonely or tired. Anybody else starting at the same time as me? Maybe we can do it together. I know I have to get over my anger because I'll just relapse. So I'm working on it now and feeling a bit better. I feel a lot better since I posted. Thanks guys.
