Thanks for the responses. I'm going to try and go and have a good time :) As for the effexor, i've been taking it almost a month or a little more. It's ok but i think paxil was better. I hope it does good things for you! Take care, Jenn

Jenn, You're not alone. I think the holidays are tough for all of us. It's hard to be around so many people and put on a happy face when this illness is eating you up inside. I started taking Effexor today as a matter of fact. I'm hoping it works. How long have you been taking it? Maybe you need to give it a little more time? Just remember this. There is no situation that you can't conquer. I know it's difficult when you're feeling this way, but it's not the place or the people that you're afraid of. It's always the fear of having another attack. That you can control. Don't worry about your surroundings. You can control whether you have an attack or not. You can control your level of anxiety. I used to think that I was scared of people and places. Then I realized that I was really scared of myself. I started understanding that these were irrational fears and I could control them. You are not afraid of wherever your going for Thanksgiving. You're not afraid of the people there. So what is there to be afraid of? Nothing! I know it's easier said than done, but you really can do it. Keep us posted on how you do. Enjoy yourself, relax, and have a great Thanksgiving! :)

Hi JennN, Welsome to the site. This is a great place full of supportive individuals to share your feelings of panic and anxiety with. I am sure members will be responding to your post soon. Please feel free to roam the site at your own pace. If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests. These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physicians advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When youre finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. We also have developed a Panic Program. This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above. Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead. If you have any questions or concerns with our "TOOLS" you can contact our support department at support@paniccenter.net. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! In a nutshell, i was on Paxil, now having been switched over to effexor which in my opinion isn't working as well, because I am not functioning as well. So the same old fears come back - not wanting to go out etc, and tomorrow is Thanksgiving!! I don't know why I am having this irrational feeling about going there, it's always a great time, etc. but I just want to stay home!! I know i need to talk to my doctor again about my medications, but in the meantime, how can I get through tomorrow??? Please any advice? Thanks Jenn
