Gonna, thank you for the visual :p Isn't it amazing how they fatten us up and sell up super size food and make lots and lots of money. Now they want to sell us smaller dinner ware and some make lots of money telling us about portion control, duh.... :eg: When I was younger I could eat anything and everything, then life happened LOL I am now in the group of portion control and exercising and loving it. Thanks John. John, Thanks for sharing. This can be a great way to adequately control portions. Don't forget that it also takes your stomach 20 minutes to send a signal to your brain that you are full so take your time and savor your meal. Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator

John, They introduced smaller plates in my works canteen and for some, like me, it works fine but for others who will not be denied their voluminous food fix, they now use TWO plates - one for the meat dish and the other for the accompaniments! Some people don't want help! Thanks & Regards Penitent d1344 & 208lbs YEAH!! :)

John, I have heard that too. I haven't tried it, but I think I'll give it a shot. I heard about a guy around here who just threw away half of whatever he ate. If he ordered a cheeseburger, he would throw away half of it. Same with everything he ate. He lost close to 100 pounds!!! Okay---I've taken my granddaughters toddler spoon and fork out of the drawer along with her little princess plate. I'll come back in a month and let you know if I notice a difference after switching my dish and cutlery...... My wife read that increased portion size has been started by restaurants to increase it's perceived value. So now, year after year what we were used to, a standard 10" plate, has now become 12" and in come cases 14". Spoon and fork sizes have increased as well and with it, our weight! According to some sources an easy way to get used to smaller portions is to begin with using smaller plates and silverware. We all know what a portion size should be right? 25% protein, 25% carb, 50% vegetable or fruit. Now, putting smaller amounts of food on your spoon and fork will mean that it will take the same amount of time to eat as if you had a larger portion on a larger plate with larger silverware but you will end up eating less but still feel just as satisfied. If you don't have smaller plates try keeping the food to the inside of the plate before it bevels up. I don't know if this will work or not but it sure sounds good! But I did loose 5 lbs in the past 1 1/2 weeks using this method.
