MJ, glad to see you are making it without the smokes. It is just crazy how we smart professional people will continue to destroy our bodies and try to ignore it.(we call ourselves caregivers) Addiction is powerful but not as powerful as a good quit. Hang with us and post when you can.I love hearing from those who are making it. We are the proud and the free. Look at you with a week under your belt! Congratulations. Now just keep on going. It seems to be normal to crave horribly around the 3-4 week mark. Next time you will be prepared! Hang on to your quit tightly when you hit rough patches. It only makes you stronger! Post more often! It is now day 8 of my quit which actually began on Jan 2, but was rudely interrupted when I caved to a crave at almost 3 weeks. Although I did restart my quit meter, I continued my daily deposit of the cost of a pack of cigs into a separate savings acount. It's amazing just how fast that adds up! I thought that after 40 years of smoking and only one slip in a month I earned a reward, so I am now the proud owner of a new curio cabinet in which to display some of my travel treasures from the past. My six month celebration will be a cruise to Alaska with friends, and we are already planning that! Already I feel so much better for having quit that nasty habit, and am really not too toubled with withdrawl effects. Any strong urges are rapidly dealth with by a piece of Thrive gum, and some days even that is not needed. Although I don't post often, I am on this site daily as a means of continuously reinforcing my quit, and I am amazed at all of the support which is so freely given. You are an awesome collection of people. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/27/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 200 Amount Saved: $88.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 3 Mins: 17 Seconds: 40
