Here I go again.....

Hi DJ and Kristilu Hang in there both of you. This is doable! I never thought it was and I smoked for over 25 years, 2 packs a day. Once I put my mind toward quitting I never turned back. Each day I told myself that I did not want to go through hell week again and that is what kept me going. I really was afraid that I would have to experience that crap all over again and that scared me enough to just say "NOT ONE PUFF EVER" So hang in there and keep coming back here for help and support. Keep trying I'm like you that want and don't want. It's like a hate love. But we can do it. I've been fighting it for days now. So don't give up. I've quit seven times now. I have to make it one time. I think this SSC is going to help.

Hi Kristilu You do sound as if you really want to quit. You also have some great reasons to quit. In fact, some of the best I have ever heard. You certainly are not afraid of quitting.(it's the staying quit that needs some fine tuning) Just don't give up. Keep going forward and don't look back. All of the quits so far are just practice, you have the attitude, desire and fire (hehehe!) to make it stick this time! wishing you the best always, G My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 199 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,970 Amount Saved: $955.20 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 12 Mins: 45 Seconds: 37

Don't worry Kristilu. It can take more than one go (or more!) to get things right. It's all about learning. I see you have taken stock of things and thought about what you really want. Way to Go! Kristi So good to see you are back!! Every time i come to the site i wonder how you are doing. No humiliation!! Just be PROUD - you are here and you are never stopping trying. You know we are all here for you and want this just as bad as you do. Tres says she is still sitting in your cheering section, i am the one right in front of her, cause i am shorter than she is! (I am only 5ft.) So when things get tough just imagine her and I and some awesome pom-poms and our cheerleading outfits. Glad to hear from you - now stop going away - no matter what. We need you here. hey Kristilu, I have all day, as long as you keep quitting I will be right here helping anyway I can. Are you ready? What about the next problem or issue? Make sure you know how to cope. You chose to smoke instead of coming here for help. Non-smokers have problems too Kristilu, we have to learn how to deal just like they do. The people here can help if you let them. I hope this time you come here for help, spend some time reading here if you can, print meaningful posts, your post, your quit reasons - post them large and proud in your kitchen, on the fridge. Do it for you. I am ready any time you are :D xo Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 276 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,760 Amount Saved: $483.00 Life Gained: Days: 26 Hrs: 23 Mins: 12 Seconds: 40

Hey Kristilu! Glad to see you come back and give it another go! You can do this! It helps to plan ahead, even if it's just one day ahead. (i.e. take things along with you, to work or wherever like straws or gum to help you through those rough spots, always have a little stash of something in your purse to help in an emergency!) Self talk helps alot to get you through rough spots. Almost everyone here has a saying or told themselves something positive when times were hard, like 'Smoking is not an option." "I can do this. Nicotine no longer has any power over me." "Just do it." Pick something that feels like you and gives you strength when you say it, it may seem silly but it helps. Make a plan for what to do when you get a bad crave. For example, do the deep breathing, grab some cold water, turn and walk away from the situation, use H.A.L.T. (as in the program) All of these things help, and as you can see some of them are physical (walk away, or the breathing) but most of it is mental. Make a promise to yourself, "I cannot have another puff of a cigarette ever!" "I cannot smoke again ever, I am an addict." All of these things do help, and yes stay away from smokers for a few weeks until you feel stronger about your quit, the longer you go with out a smoke the stronger you will become! Also, make sure there are no temptations in the house - get rid of all the smokes, ashtrays etc. If you were trying to diet you wouldn't keep a chocolate cake on the cupboard would you? I know you want to do it Kristilu. Try all of these things until you find what works for you! You will be so happy whem you do it! Hang out as much as you can here, at least for the first few weeks, and post when you need it! We are here for you! :) Go get yourself quit girl, you deserve the health and the freedom!
