Deck - I've posted this story before. I'm not an extremely religious person, but this resonates with me anyway: [color=purple] A man found a cocoon of a butterfly, which he carefully brought home. Several days later a small opening appeared. He sat and watched several hours as the butterfly struggled to force its body through the tiny opening. After hours of struggle, the butterfly stopped making any progress in its escape. It appeared as if it had gone as far as it could. The man decided to help the butterfly, so he took a pair of scissors and carefully enlarged the hole. The butterfly was then able to exit the cocoon easily, but like a newborn infant, it looked misshapen. Its body was swollen and its wings were small, shriveled things. "Surely, at any moment, the wings would expand," the man thought as he continued to watch. But nothing happened. The body remained swollen and the wings remained crippled. It was never able to fly. What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required of the butterfly to emerge through the tiny opening were God's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings. Once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon, it would be ready for flight. Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If God allowed us to go through our life without obstacles, it would cripple us. Hi Deck, On one hand I'm sorry that so much is going on in your life but on the other, look at the way your cards unfolded. You quit (woo hoo!). You got, what a month behind you before your partner left? You finally went to the doctor and found out you had a serious condition BEFORE you lost the use of your legs. I don't expect you to see a bright side in this right now, but after some dust settles I think gratefulness will take over. If you can re-direct your anger at yourself, at your partner, and at the world into a drive to rebuild your life on different terms then that energy will go to much better use. Right now it is just being burned off into the atmosphere, poisoning yourself and others around you, being wasted just like all that time and energy you wasted on smoking. I can't imagine how overwhelming everything must feel right now but there is no doubt that attitude affects your health. Give yourself time to grieve and mourn your relationship but try also to acknowledge all you have to be grateful for. You've been given a second chance in several areas of your life and you are taking your life back from a powerful addiction that has taken more from you than anyone in this world. Hang in there Deck. It is so hard to quit and then start discovereing all these things wrong with you! My husband is going thru similar things, tests just showed sleep apnea, he already has COPD, now they are doing CAT scans of his lungs. It is hard to stay up beat and keep the quit, but we are doing it...and do not put off these additional tests too long. Go for a second opinion, if you want. and consider trying alternative medicines, but do something now. We want to keep you around here for a long time, Deck!! Deck You can take this for what it's worth.Before you submit yourself to surgery consider a visit to a Doctor of traditional chinese medicine.I know it sounds bizzare just consider it.Although the arteries are 80% blocked they are also 20% free which would indicate you do have some circulation and that recovery is possible without surgery. Deck, I'm sorry to hear about everything you're going through. I hope you are able to take time for yourself NOW and pass the workload to someone else for a while. I know it's tough to do sometimes, but think of it this way (and it's not a happy thought, but it does happen)....if you were in a bad car accident and hospitalized for 3 weeks or more, someone else would have to continue with your workload wouldn't they? There wouldn't be any choice - it's out of your hands at that point. Sometimes we just have to put the brakes on and think of ourselves. Best of luck with everything.
