Fed up

Thanks Misty, I know it sounds strange but I find it really helpful when the addiction is approached from a physical/scientific side because it helps me make sense of what is happening to my body and mind and therefore helps me to be more calm and patient. I didn't know that nicotine and serotonin were linked. I don't really understand how the brain is wired with regards to nicotine so if anyone wants to educate me, please be my guest! I know there is a herbal supplement called rhodiola rosea which has something to do with helping to increase serotonin levels so could I take that for smoking mood swings? I hope you're able to get some sleep. I look at it this way - something that makes you feel so bad because you choose not to do it - why would you then want to do it? I mean, would you give in that easy to any kind of pressure to do something? You feel so bad because your body is detoxifying itself. And because the seratonin receptors in your brain are screaming for some nicotine to flood them with seratonin. And Because you used to run and hide under a cloud of smoke instead of deeling with people and you lost your security blanket. Pamper yourself - reward reward reward - it's VITAL! Do something special for yourself because you deserve it for not caving after feeling so bad. No - you don't have to fight it forever. At some point, and the point is different for all of us, you will be able to say "I am a non smoker". and second hand smoke won't make you vomit anymore, and you want have all the little urges to smoke like you do now, and certainly won't feel like crap! There's many of us that wish to hell we had quit at your age and not listened to the junky then. Those of us that now have the health problems and eveything else that goes with being a long time smoker. Some have gravely voices, bad complexion, wrinkles around the motuh, all sorts of things to remind us that we were addicted for all those years. You are the lucky one - you got out young. Stay out. Also - you won't be able to get away with smoking for the rest of your life, and do you really want to have to go through those 2 weeks again later? :confuse: My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 590 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 44,250 Amount Saved: $11,062.50 Life Gained: Days: 52 Hrs: 16 Mins: 59 Seconds: 13

Thanks Lainey, I'm really tense today! Its 4am here in Dublin and I can't sleep. Just had a crappy day and fed up! Although, I had a positive today, I chose not to smoke because I simply didn't want to. Hopefully tommorrow will be better, I'm gonna try and get some sleep! ICL, I know you aren't feeling the good times yet, but hang on because it does get so much better. No, you won't have to fight like this forever. Take some deep breaths and a drink of cold water. Or suck on a straw (that saved my butt lots!) You have made it two weeks, that is great! Don't give it up now, you are through the worst part of it. All the fighting, all the feeling crappy, all the mental anguish, and all the depression goes away. It is all a temporary phase! Keep telling yourself this..."It will be better tomorrow!" Because it will! I used to tell myself, if it is so awful that I can't stand it then I will allow myself to smoke tomorrow. Look at my stats, that tomorrow never came, it was always better! Many of us had the crying spells the first few weeks, myself included. I got the blues alot too, and found that Vitamin B complex helps with that. Hang on to it girl! You are going to be so proud. Don't look back at that pesticide, that we got tricked into smoking, it will do nothing for you, but kill you! Keep on posting with us! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 359 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,975 Amount Saved: $3,787.45 Life Gained: Days: 47 Hrs: 4 Mins: 52 Seconds: 54

I'm really fed up of feeling lousy and angry constantly. I feel like I'm going crazy. I snapped at my nan earlier on and then burst in to tears. I'm not seeing any positives. I feel like I'm going to have to watch my back for the rest of my life, in fear of being weak and giving in to the almighty nicotine demon. I'm aware that I'm finding it hard because 1. I'm 23 (addict says, have fun, relax, you like it) 2. No health problems ( i know, i know, yet...) 3. Money (not a deterrant) 4. I can't get my head around NOPE, I understand it but I'm finding it tough. My quit date is important to me and I want to keep it unless I totally relapse. I slipped on day 6 and day 12 and I can't honestly say that I will never have another puff because I don't know. The only thing that is motivating me is that I don't want to smoke for the rest of my life therefore I have to stop at some point, so why not now. Its never going to be the right time. Yeah, I could wait till I'm older and need to stop for health reasons but that would kind of defeat the purpose! Today, I had little to no desire to smoke and I was with smokers for an hour or so. I chose not to smoke because I didn't want to but I just don't feel 100% committed to quiting, I'd say I'm about 40% (max). I really appreciate everyones support and advice and input, am I on the road to nowhere? Do I really have to fight this for the rest of my life?
