ICL, good for you for not smoking them. Keep your quit reasons close, laminated and in your purse or pocket where you kept your cigs, and be ready with coping strategies for cravings. So sorry to hear that your weekend didn't go as planned!! Know one thing, i think crazy dreams come with quitting, i still have them sometimes. I am glad you are rewarding yourself with the massage tomorrow afternoon - a reward for being so very strong this weekend. Yes, you may have bought cigarettes, you may have wanted them numerous times and maybe still do, but you haven't had one yet. That deserves a HUGE reward and some recognition from yourself. Give yourself a pat on the back for what you have been thru - you made it out the other side and are still smoke free. Stay strong and stay here! Hey guys, sorry I haven't been around, I was away for a few days! I went down to the country for a two night stay in a hotel and a bit of pampering. I was so stressed driving for a few hours and I got serious road rage and when we stopped for petrol I bought cigarettes and a lighter. I continued on the drive and I was a bit calmer, we checked into the hotel and had a glass of wine and I relaxed a bit and threw the unopened box of cigs out the window! That was friday, sat was ok and today I barely thought of cigs till I came home! As soon as I got back to the house, my junkie started up again! I went out for a meal with the family and had coffee and had serious craving, the others went to the pub but I just excused myself and came home. I'm a bit fed up again because it was really nice to be free from the thought of cigs, it really didn't bother me in the slightest for most of yesterday and now its screaming! I just had to book another massage in my local salon for tommorrow afternoon! Oh and I'm having the craziest dreams! Anyway, I'm just checking in! Hope you're all doing well! Wow troll - what good self insight you have. I've done a bunch of art work for a respiratory therapy place that delivers oxygen to folks, and they ahve nurses and techs on staff and such? Well, I was stunned one day when I drove up and saw the entire group standing outside smoking! I've heard that health care providers smoke more than any other group of people, and it still suprises me. Hi, ICL. I used to be a c.n.a. in a hospital. I worked on a specialty unit that mainly dealt with respiratory problems. Big problems. No, scare tactics here, just setting up my story... As new patienst came I developed the morbid habit of quizzing them about their smoking addictions and most importantly, when did they give them up if at all? Since I have quit, I have been looking at my habit and realized that I was counting how many days I had left with my old friend. Each time wondering how much more would I take. It was already kicking my butt and I had just turned 40. A whole lotta life still to be lived. I started trying to quit 10 years ago. It became a 32 year old habit. This is one of the most insideous drug habits out there, I think. You can go along okay for a long time and then your having to sleep on 5 pillows to be able to breath at night for that 3 or 4 hours you were able to sleep. You stop attending concerts and other events you used to enjoy because you can't seem to stop coughing your lungs out during them. Your energy is in the toilet and your mood right along side there with it. I think that it is incredibly smart and brave for you to quit now in your life. I think we are all smart and incredibly brave to do and accomplish what we are here. Those ugly illnesses linked to smoking, still luking in the dark somewhere, are really there. All you can ask yourself is, is it worth it? Heres to you and your quit! :)Troll.

I am going to respond without reading the previous responses, which is not something I don't usually do, but you post struck a chord with me. That junkie of yours is trying very very hard to undermine your confidence and comes up with some very good arguments sometimes. Honestly, I still have some of those very same thoughts, but they are easily brushed away, like an annoying fly. In regards to NOPE. I always precede NOPE with..."If I want to continue to be a non-smoker". NEVER is a very long time, and my addict jumps right on that one, so I don't use it. As far as the 100% committment thing, well, honestly I have 'moments' where my committment is questioned, even now. At 13 days, it was questioned a lot. This is the crux of quitting. Keep going on, even when you are not sure. Will you have to fight it for the rest of your life? You will if you go back to smoking. I'm 45....good part of my life. I'm willing to have daily 'thoughts' about smoking, instead of having to live the hell of a smoking life. It does get better...it just takes time. Age 23 is a good time to learn some patience. Take what you want and leave the rest. You'll be out of the woods in no time. Congrats on 13 days!
