Hi everyone, Very interesting discussion! Milliemoo, great to hear that you are using the program and the site and that it is helping! You will continue to gain the skills and coping techniques to overcome your fears and feelings of panic and anxiety. Maria, thanks so much for sharing what you have found helpful! I think this is a very common train of thought. It is certainly what brought on anxiety and panic attacks for me. My CBT coach recommended this book for me and it's very interesting. It's Not All in Your Head by Gordon J. G. Asmundson, PhD, and Steven Taylor, PhD.

Hiya, I get that too. So nowadays, I don't give myself the right to google anything health related and I find I am being a lot less neurotic about things. But I must admit I am very cautious about my health and that I worry about the health of those I love a lot! I also tend to wash my hands more then the average joe which means the soap and hand lotion (to find dryness and chapping) love me. What I find bizarre is that for me what helps is really contradictory. I find avoiding serious information searches on diseases and such helps me not think I have well everything but that at the same time exposing myself to shows that talk about diseases but are not serious (ER, Grey'S Anatomy, etc) helps me deal with the idea that there are diseases out there and such. Hmm, well I have rambled long enough lol Have fun guys Diva

I also share the same feelings - i almost constantly think i have something serious or will die in terrible pain at any given moment. If i read about other peoples illness i too seem to 'feel' the symptoms and worry about having it After a while when nothing more happens i start to realise that if something were seriously wrong it would be a whole lot worse by now! Another thing that creeps into my mind a lot is something happening to other family members - how would i cope. Also if we're going on holiday or out for the day i worry that we'll have a crash etc. Not nice. The programme on this site and reading other peoples stories is helping me a lot though - i have some 'clear' days now when i realise last thing at night that i haven't really worried all day and that feels great! Love to you all XXX

Hi, I think you will find that most of us have some fear around our health especially those of us whom have faced a serious illness. A simple little pain in our eyes becomes something alot more sinister. I no longer watch health shows or read articles about any diseases as I am sure within days I think I have it.

I know how you feel. I had cancer when I young and now I am terrified that I have some kind of incurable disease or am always sick. I try to tell myself that it is just my anxiety "talking" and try to calm myself down. If I can't I find talking to someone about what I am worried about helps alot. Someone that is good at putting things into perspective. I also will go and re-read the anxiety symptoms becuase most likely what I am feeling is from my anxiety not an illness.

Years ago, I never feared illness, wouldn't visit the doc for anything because I always figured "it was nothing". Then one year I was found to have a curable skin cancer which took me to a doctor. This just started the cycle where doctors started finding all kinds of things wrong with me. I had several big scares, but all turned out ok. Now I seem to be scared of every ache and pain. My ears ring all of the time and I never feel well. My biggest fear is being unable to take care of my family. This keeps me in an almost constant state of panic. With a health care system that is driven by cost cutting, it is hard to gain a comfort level. I'm sure a full body scan showing nothing wrong would be a great reassurance, but let's face it, it's not an affordable option. How much early detection isn't detected due to cost? What I can offer is to tell you that you are not alone. It's not an easy thing to do when you don't feel well, but I believe the best thing to do is help yourself as much as you can with a healthy diet and exercise. This can only improve your odds. :)

Always...what gave me my first panic attack 10 years ago was obsessively thinking I had a brain tumour and it kept me up all night and day. I had my first panic attack in the mall and I thought I was going to have a seizure because of I convinced myself I had a bran tumour. I still worry about diseases, detah, people geting sick. I can't go to the doctors or into hospitals. It is terrifying.
