Thanks, Mr. Ed. My motivation was, at $49.00 a carton per week, I could save a lot of money in a hurry & not smell like an ashtray. Lovin' that part of it. Mr. Ed........Horses say the darndest things. You are way to motivated..lol My inspiration to quit was totally financial. My wife and I bought another timeshare week. The money we were spending on cigarettes was $90 a month more than the new mortgage. This was a no-brainer for us. Vacation on the beach, or sstay home and smoke? Duuuuuuuuhhhhh. 5 months past.. the mortgage has always been on time, maintenance fees paid, and next week we spend on the beach..Life is great without cigarettes!! What motivates us to quit smoking? Health or financial reasons, not subjecting partner or family to a smoky household or a combination of these.. When you quit, some benefits are obvious: That perma-cough soon disappears, The appearance of teeth and skin improve dramatically Your breath/clothes/home/car no longer reek of smoke Your sense of smell improves You have more money in your pocket Your blood circulation improves (which is particularly good news for men, but we won't explore this any further :p) What has happened to me longer term is perhaps less obvious but just as significant: I am more motivated to 'get on and do things'. As a smoker, my life was punctuated by constant cig breaks. I no longer sit and watch TV puffing away at one cig after another. I choose a program, watch it, then turn the TV off. I have discovered new interests - gardening, photography, walking. I have spent all my 'money saved' on a fantastic camera, a completely restocked garden, a luxury holiday and wining and dining Mrs Ed. I have also bought a cross-trainer, rowing machine, power plate and weights - after 2 years quit, I am going to shed those 8 pounds that I have gained since quitting. This is NOT a chore, I am thoroughly enjoying it! I really enjoy every moment of my leisure time and have come to the conclusion that as a smoker and slave to the addiction, it really is impossible to live life to the full. Stay Quit and stay Free! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 776 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 23,280 Amount Saved: 5,820.00 Life Gained: Days: 126 Hrs: 11 Mins: 22 Seconds: 4
