Hi everyone, I just want to share few observations about myself and others who are suffering from anxiety disorders that might help. There are many types of problems one may encounter in real life. By problems I mean real life problems like interpersonal conflicts, employment, catastrophies..., things of that nature. The main characteristic that separates anxious people from everyone else, is that they try to solve problems by prevention or trying to prevent a problem before it occurs. This would work great if all real-life problems could be prevented, however some occur unexpectedly and cannot be forseen. At that point people usually blame themselves for failure to forsee a catastrophie and some probably have poor damage control skills (ability to solve the problem after damage has already been done). The other drawback is that people spend preventing problems that have very little probability of occuring, that just drains one's energy through the day. The main thing to remeber is that you cannot prevent all of the bad things that may happen to you. The second observation is that anxiety sufferers are incapable or even uncomprimising to accept any kind of loss thay may occur. What I mean is the inability to accept or even imagine that death, diesease, fraud, loss of property, etc, can occur. It is this unacceptance that creates anxiety, people instead taking rational and irrational measures to try to prevent it (OCD). Another observation is that people usually follow the philosophy of free will; meaning they think that they are in control of their universe, compare this with determinism where events have a life of their own, and people have little or no control. Anyway, I got to go, hopefully this has been helpful if not sorry I wasted your time. Edited on 2/16/2005 @ 7:09:02 PM by The Support Team
