Hi Moss, ML, Anxious1 and Kelly, hope you are all doing well or at least better than we all were a few weeks ago. I really do believe that the slump was a part of the quit and that it really threw us off because of the stage of our quit that we were in. I am happy that we all managed to get through it and I belive that it is a sign of our resolve in our final quit! Medication or not there has been a shift and I like ML am feeling more positive and motivated now that the days seem to be adding up again and I think less and less of needing a smoke to get me through life. I am happy to hear that the decision to go on medications is based on knowing your own mind and body connection and this is very important to keeping yourself in tune. I have a somewhat stressful week coming up...I am participating in a Ukrainian Dance concert and am a bit nervous performing infront of others as it is my 2nd year after a 15 yr break since I was a child. I know I can do it but it's funny how we immediately think of smoking as the answer. I already know that smoking will not solve anything for me this week and will not make me perform better so I will not smoke and that is a good realization. Thank goodness the cravings have at least subsided. Wishing you guys the best this week, this month, this year and in your lifelong journey. Thank you so much for checking in and keep the quit. Hi Moss - Cravings aren't as bad as they were but still there to an extent. I am happy to read that the medication is working for you and the passage of time has helped. I am also glad that you have a doctor who is experienced in addiction. Kelly, yes, you are adopted into the No-Embers (really not that far behind me, ya know). How are you doing? Is the med helping? Are the cravings gone, Natalie? Or at least subsided? When I decided back in October to stop smoking, then hemmed and hawed about it before I chose my Q-Day, I knew I might have some problems but, all in all, not as bad as I had feared after being such a long time smoker and I had to be ready for a successful quit. After passing l50 days now, I am really motivated. I think I'll make it. ML - Freedom26 - and Anxious1 ( and any other no-ember lurkers) Kelly, You have been adopted in to this group like it or not. :) Well, a couple weeks have passed since we all seemed to experience the 4 - 5 monthish craves, blues, depression, anxiety, etc. I've been wondering how you are doing and if things have improved. On my end, the bad cravings (and the depression that came with) I was experiencing have definitely lessened in duration and strength. I am not sure if it was the meds or just part of the cycles that seem to happen. Perhaps a bit of both. I have a great Doc who has been checking in with me to keep a check and to explain this and that about the cessation process. He has a lot of experience in the addiction department and has really taken an interest in helping me. I feel lucky to have a Doc I can really talk to. He feels that having the level of OCD I do is a big factor in the difficulty of changing the smoking routine. But I am doing it, and for that I am proud and glad. Hoping you are doing well.
