ICL--Go to the dr and discus options for quitting smoking, NRT or zyban or chantix & make your selection and then chose your quit date. Do the prep work and then--just don't smoke. (NOPE)

If you want to quit ..... that is the decision & conclusion you must come to---that you are a non-smoker. There really isn't anything mystical about it--you have to prepare and then make up your mind that you will become a non-smoker, and then one day, one minute at a time you honor your decision.
 
Never stop trying....look around on this site--it can be done!

ICL,
Beating yourself up isn't going to get you anywhere.  Commit to the quit and then make your plan.  Talk to your doctor and make use of NRT's if need be.
Like a I said before, I used BOTH the patch and Zyban.  I never would have entertained cold turkey.  I know myself and I didn't hesitate to take ALL  the help I could get.  And, so far, its paid off wonderfully well.
You CAN do this, you just have to believe.

ICL, your last thread 16 people told you what they think.  Including me.  I said this - below.  You started a new thread.  Perhaps revisit the old one, read what those 16 caring people said, and see if any of it reasonates with you. 
 
    
ICL, last time you posted like this I told you I didn't think you arming yourself for this quit, and to ask for help, read read read here and post before you slip.  I don't remember seeing you ask for help.
 
Did you go back through the workbook?  Do you have your quit reasons in your purse where your cigs were?
 
This is a battle ICL, you have to prepare and arm yourself and tell yourself N.O.PE.
 
You have to choose to never smoke again, no matter what.  It is more than trashing cigs, mentally you have to get in the game.
 
I hope you decide to do this.  I am here to help.

ps....I smoked in front of my cat for years, 2 years ago we had to put him down - lung cancer, he was drowning, couldn't breathe.  It was a terrible, awful, heart wrenching moment.  I still smoked after that.

I smoked again. I don't want to allow myself to fall into it and keep smoking for a few days/weeks till I sort myself out but I can't sort myself out while I'm keeping myself in a torture like state. I need help, I don't think I can do this cold turkey, well its pretty obvious I can't do this cold turkey. So lets see, I've tried cold turkey, patches, gum, hypnotherapy and herbal routes so far. I don't think I'd be keen on Chantix, not sure why cos I've seen it help so many people here, I think I'd want something that even resembles a cigarette! Has anyone tried the nicotine inhaler? I really hate this, I thought I was fine earlier today but then after dinner, I just got a huge craving and didn't even attempt to fight it- i was just too tired- how pathetic is that!
 
I was thinking that the inhaler might be helpful, just to be able to build up confidence and act as a saftey net- I can have it when I need it and I'll have no excuse! What do you's think?
