Hi Crik,

Thanks so much for telling us a little more about yourself.

I can tell you that individuals with depression often have to adjust their dosages as nicotine does produce similar effects as anti-depressants. In addition to that, once we quit our neurotransmitters (feel good chemicals in our brains.) tend to take a temporary nosedive. Don't get too down about it. At worst, your medications will help you remain functional until you are able and ready to work on your issues.

I'm happy to hear you've also joined our sister site. No pressure to post in the support groups but when you're ready, do work the program. It's great!. Just starting to read through the sessions in itself can teach you a lot things about depression that may surprise you.

Keep us posted.

HI Crik- I suffer too with depression so I wont be able to tell you anything you dont already know I guess. All I can say is yes it will lift eventually- and I hope that is very very soon for you.
I'll tell you something that might make that small smile appear again for a second if you like- and that is your photo is beautiful, what a lovely looking lady you are.
Good luck Crik- only a post away if you need anything.

Well, thank you for asking, Danielle.  Depression has been a lifelong problem for me  I take a medication that helps

But a couple of years ago I began to get more and more depressed.  That's the same time I began to binge smoke.  A

pack a day for 2 days and then months of abstinence.  The periods of abstinence have gotten shorter.  Down to a few

days or a week. A week ago I upped my med dosage by a third and a few days ago I added an anti anxiety med.I also

meditate.  I have gone to the sister site here but haven't wanted to post.  I'm waiting to see if the med increase

helps.  If I'm still crying in 2 weeks, I'll go to the doctor and see about using a different one.  I've read that

they can poop out after awhile.I hate being on meds but after a lifetime of fighting this condition, I accept that I have to take
them. I do know things I can do to help myself and after I stop crying and get out of bed I'll do what I can.  (small smile)

Hi Crik,

If you don't want to smoke again, plan for it. Give yourself an alternative to lighting up.

Could you tell me more about the depression you are experiencing? Is this a long standing problem or isolated to your quit?

We have tips for both!

ok , no nicotine but I have been puffing ocassionally on something else  No more of that I pray.  I don't think I'll smoke today but neither do I feel like living .  I know this depression will lift some day but it's hell right now.
