Switching meds AGAIN - advice?

Hey there! I am on the Lexapro. The first 5-7 days suck because your anxiety gets worse before it gets better. I can tell you it really is in your benefit to have a back up to go with it such as Xanax to get you through that first week. I had headaches and feeling constant sick to my stomach. After the first week things got better and each day after that. The lexapro works great but you have to stay on it. I had gotten off during our move this last week and I am in bad shape. Before that I was doing great. I also like Lexapro because it has been found to pretty much go with all other meds and you do not have to worry so much about taking something else with it.

Hi Jenn I too have just come through a tough withdrawal from Effexor XR -I was only on 150mgs (for 4 years) and withdrew gradually from it (over 6 weeks.).The drug worked well but other probs, so hence the withdrawal. As a result of coming off it I have become hypo-manic and my hubbie is really concerned, as is my doc. However I rang the drug company (Wyeth - here in Australia) and they explained that the hypo is a common side-effect as can be nausea; headaches etc. I felt relieved but am unsure how long it will last for. It is a very difficult drug to reduce/withdraw from. Take care and good luck. I was hoping tp try Cymbalta, but we don't have it over here. I was taking Effexor - 75 mg....before that Paxil. The paxil worked wonders but the weight gain was tough....Effexor no weight gain but doesn't work as well for me, so now i'm taking Lexapro. I feel ok - not exactly great but i'm nauseated. I just stopped taking the effexor after piggybacking to get off of it, is the nausea something that usually happens? I'd also love to hear about your good things about Lexapro....thanks Jenn
