Lisa....

I saw this video when I started my quit.  Now I'm living it with my next door neighbor.  He's in ICU first diagnosed with mouth cancer.  I've been doing my best to hang in there and take care of things with him.... feeding kitties, answering messages.... tonight, he is bleeding internally.

He told me tonight that he's ready to go.  I had to come home from the hospital because I had to put my little son to bed.  I held him so close and kept holding him as he drifted off to sleep.

If I can keep me here longer for both of our sake's, then the crap of hell week, and the occasional cravings seem trivial.  My dear neighbor has given me that gift.  He's leaving behind too many people.

Am writing late because I really want you all to reach toward life.  Hold onto it.  Watch Lisa's video.

Deborah

Jazz I mentioned that to Lisa for the same reasons that you have said- the video impacted on me more than any other anti-smoking campaign I have ever seen- whilst I watched it I kept wanting to reach forward and click it off but I couldn't I was frozen in my seat- if I remember rightly the lady in the film was not that much older than me- after the film was finished I just sat there, I guess you could say traumatised in a way- but then I posted to Lisa and said thank you, that was my wake up call, it was the thing that cemented my quit forever.
I told Lisa just yesterday that I have told people at work about the video, I was once telling a smoker and thought I would play it down a bit, soften it- but then I thought, no, why should I?? would I be doing her a favour by Disney-fying the movie? I just want them to think about her message on smoking, her bravery in being filmed right to the very end to show us in all its gory detail the destruction of life due to nothing else but smoking. Yes it is terribly difficult to watch, but better to watch that lady than watch yourself.
I know many of us thank Lisa for finding this, and for sharing it with others.

I did watch the video.

Such a hard time for the family and especially the son, his mother meant the world to him.  Set an example and know that you also mean the world to someone.

Lisa, I'm so sorry you had to go through that with your mom - I wasn't aware of that.  Also, I hope everything works out for you - I know how hard it is to wait, but you also know smoking won't make it go any faster.  Take care, and thanks again.

Hi Jazz
That video helped me so much in the begining of my quit, my mom died of cancer and it was like watching her all over again and that made me remember that I never want to put my daughter through that. I been on shakey grounds the past couple of days and in my post for help Karren mentioned my video it made me go back and rewatch it and made me re-committ to my quit. It is hard to watch but I'm like you, if you can watch it it will kill the crave that you are having.
Lisa

- if you’re having a huge crave and your friends here at SSC can’t talk you through it
- if you truly feel like you’re going to cave and give up your quit
- if you are lurking around wondering whether to quit smoking or not
- if you’ve ever wondered what it was like to have lung cancer

you HAVE to watch Kylisa41’s video.  Even those of us that are solid or feel comfortable in our quit should watch it for reinforcement.  It’s the most powerful message to stay quit that I’ve ever seen.

Yesterday was the first time I’ve actually been able to watch the video from start to finish.  I’ve started a few times and had to shut it off as it’s upsetting and makes me cry. Just thinking about it while I’m writing this makes me teary.  But I managed to complete it yesterday and it’s something that I will remember for the rest of my life.  It had a huge impact on me.

Spend a measly 10 minutes to watch it. It’s a toughie, but well worth it.  I bet you’ll never smoke again…there’s no way I could put myself or my family through that crap.  Thanks for finding it and sharing it Lisa.  It will help me stay smoke-free for the rest of my days.

Luv from Jazz
