I reckon you are doing a little wishful thinking!! ... and anyway looking at the picture ... it seems that your balloons have got you pretty high already ... but you look like your drifting over all those smokers outside the bar ... quick ... hold your breath ... better still blow into another balloon it might get you past them faster!!   OMG ... what am I doing?? ... I am actually joining in with your craziness!!!

P.S wrote a wee post re: Kudzu on the 'Thankyou' thread ... it says nowt about it gettin you high ... but hey if you hear different ... let me know!

I have no idea if KUDZU will make you high, but if you blow fast the balloons you will over oxygenate your brain and it will make you dizzy. hahahahahahah

Well....I'm gonna tie a knot in all of mine and save them up.  When I have enough, I'm going to take a trip to Brazil to see CT via the balloons.  When I get there we are going to smoke kudzu.  Can you get high from kudzu?

Ok MissMarple...that was funny !
Let me explain. You blow the balloon but you don't tie a not at the end, you let all the air out, then you do it again...and again...and again. One balloon will last for a week if you wish to and if you don't mind the saliva in it...LOL

This balloon thing is an exercise to expand lung capacity, not a way to measure your lung capacity.

Okay CT.   gotta ask---just what do you do with all those inflated balloons?
Tell you what Q---when I was in the hospital this last time my Dr. gave me this little plastic device that you suck into called a volumetric spirometer.  Very interesting device (and cheap).  Comes with a little instruction manual and easy to read table.  It will tell you what you should score as a healthy non-smoker based on age and height.  For myself, I should score 1800-2000.  I can only score about 1000-1200.  The really neat thing about this device, is I keep it handy for when I have a crave at home.  You are actually sucking in (simulating smoking) and the score reminds you just how much your lung function sucks due to smoking!  Ask your Dr for one or check to see how much they cost---I bet it's not much.

Hey Mr Q

Glad to know that you are reversing the situation. Soon your lungs will reach your age.
This may sound stupid, my doctor said that if I wished to increase lung capacity faster an excellent exercise is to blow balloons and it is true!! I do it every day since my quit. When I started my quit I could not run more than 5 min now I can do 40 min with no difficulty.

Get a balloon and blow it every day!

Hey Mr Q

Wow ... your a nice guy,  here you have been worried about your own health and yet you still took the time to post to others ( i.e .. ME)  I am sorry you were not so good a while back ... but on the plus side you have sliced 11 years of the damage process already ... I am presuming this too will improve with time?

Is this the happy quitters site?? ... I bloody well hope not or I'll be having my membership revoked sharpish.  Hey ... we all have bad times, hard times and down times ... and you seem more than prepared to listen to and give support to others ... why can't we do the same for you?

We are not a support group for the happy, skipping, aint life a breeze brigade ... we are smokers who are trying to quit and stay quit ... and occasionally morbid comes with the territory ... that's just life.

Keep up the amazing work ... your gettin' younger by the day!!

Mr Q that really is great news and like Teresa said, I am so glad you saw sense at a young age and quit now, seriously when you get as old as I am, smoking will seem like a long distance memory and I am happy for that.
I dont wish to know what damage I have done, I would be very silly and complacent to think I haven't done any, but again as Teresa said, my lungs are OK for now and for that I am thankful- but for you I am over the moon- enjoy your improving 'age' health!
