Sometime it takes getting threatened by a doctor or the results of tests to make the decision to stop smoking. I have wanted to quit for a while, but I didn't do anything to quit until my doctor told me that I would be on Coumadin the rest of my life and be at risk for blood clots if I didn't quit. I went cold turkey two days after my doctor told me this. I don't want to be on meds the rest of my life. I don't want to always be on the edge of another blood clot forming. I don't want to have lung problems, breathing problems, other medical conditions. I just hope I didn't quit too late! The stories many of you have shared aren't morbid, they are real life examples of what smoking can do to your body. As Astofan said, its motivation to keeping the quit! Good luck to all in keeping the quit going!
