When I say "little over 3 months" I mean on another quit attempt.  This time has gone quite well and I owe a lot to this site and a book I read "Allen Carr's - The easyway to quit smoking."  I would definately recommend reading it.

Hi Lynn,

It's very common.  I call it the nicodemon dying in the desert phase.  You haven't been giving the nicodemon any food or water for 3 months and now he's almost gone.  As he goes he makes one last attempt by screaming, yelling, suggesting, and doing anything that will make you give him some water.

I'm sure this scenario is not REALLY happening but I think the feeling of need is trying to push through.  The reason I like this analogy so much is that I only quit for a little over 3 months and bought one pack.  I planned on only smoking one and throwing the rest away but it didn't quite work out and I was soon back to a pack a day.  Putting the nicodemon in the desert really puts things in perspective.  It can be a huge fight even though there's no nicotine left in your body but give that nicodemon one sip of water and your fight just got harder ALOT harder and for most of us it's too much to bear and we go right back into our old routine.

Keep up the great fight Lynn.  Your nicodemon is getting its a$$ whooped.

Lynn,
Welcome, and congratulations on hitting the beach, were the sands are warm, and white, the people are wonderful and smoke free, they all have a common enemy (nico demon)so camaraderie is great. Many people, including myself have had some difficulty after 100 days that can last even a few months. Hang on though sweetie it is still doable. Kick nicodemon ash. YOU ARE A WINNER AND A NON SMOKER NOW.
When it gets too tuff, post here and wait for answers. These people are GREAT and have helped me so much. I owe my quit to this site and these great members. Now cabana boy, where is that wonderful, refreshing, ice water that helps so much with the craves?
