A sure way to lessen the smoking population...

HP - they say that inside every 91 year old is a 21 year old wondering what the hell happened!
Aging stinks!   And smoking only made it worse for us didn't it?

Rofl!
Angie -  at first glance I thought it said Brownies and I was trying to figure out why in the world would she be putting brownies on her forehead?   Omg, I can't stop laughing!  Those wacky Aussies.hahaha  Well, now that I've figured out they are white adhesive strips.. that doesn't sound much better.

Has anyone ever saved up all their unsmoked cig money for cosmetic surgery? Just wondering. Last thing I would ever do I'm not beyond a shot of something like Botox.  haha, this is so completely out of character for me. I'm one of those "let it happen" kind of people. I even stopped coloring my hair. But more is happening than I bargained for! I catch myself looking at other women over 50 who never smoked and they all look about 10 years younger than me. OUCH!  Those smokes can really do a number on the skin.
I did read online that there is no surgery for those vertical lip lines we smoker's get. Of course, it seems to just be the women who get those. You end up looking like a permanent pucker.  Ugh.

Note to all you young quitters... quit early, quit young!

Oh HP you make me laugh!!!  You are so right!  Fattening doesn't stop us from ordering a Big Mac (with a Diet Coke) now does it?!?  I've been using this product called Frownies for the landing strip wrinkles between my eyes!!!  You wet them and stick them on at night - totally attractive!

Happy - keep the flattery coming - you are officially my new BFF!!!!  On a serious note:  you are doing so well.  Be proud of yourself!

Well, unfortunately, this logic has yet to stop me from driving through McDonalds drive thru.

Even though it wouldn't work for me (I'm impervious to all logic)... I think it's a great idea.
:)
Say...what if cigs immediately put the wrinkles on your face that you now get 30years later???
Now that might have done it for me.  You are talking to someone who had wrinkle cream at the
top of the Christmas list. How pathetic is that???  "Oh thank you honey, you got me the industrial strength!"

Angie, you are a doll. Don't worry about the swim suit this year. You are doing something that will make next years' suit even better looking as you will be pretty inside too!

Me? I'm opting for the bio-hazard suit.

best,
HP

They might be.  I've slowly gained weight over the past couple years.  Though I'm not obese only 20lbs overweight I'm the heaviest I've ever been.  I've had really low energy and tired alot....perhaps from smoking.  I'm not as active because well I'm out of breath from 4 flights of stairs.  So I'd have to vote yes smoking can be fattening.  I noticed too that alot of the contestants on Biggest Loser were smokers.  There might be some truth in that Angie.

Don't worry about the swim suit.  They make cute ones for all sizes and you have a beautiful face.  Your sexy just cause you don't smoke.  Congrats on 23 days!

Hi Angie,
You are dead right, most people probably wouldn't start smoking if they thought they were going to get fat. I try sugar free chewing gum or mints or a glass of ice cold water and feel that helps with the cravings. I have been eating more aswell but I'll deal with that later.
You are doing great. I always enjoy reading your posts.
Luv lola

Angie,

What an incredible question!

Many members use food as a substitute for smoking. It can be quite easy to turn to food when you get smoking urges.

What other distractions have you been using to fight those cravings?

Members, any other advice for Angie?

Too funny Angie!!!  I bet there would be alot less smokers if cigs were 500 calories a piece!  Or there would be lots of very obese smokers!  LOL!

Do you think cigarettes would be enjoyed by as many people if they were actually fattening?  Think about it...they aren't nearly as tasty as chocolate, Oreos or ice cream now are they?  Would we have rethought the decision to start smoking if they made our butt big?

Just a thought I had since I'm trying to squeeze my rear into a swimsuit.  I'm finding it very difficult to keep from shoving food in my mouth as a substitute for smoking!!!
