RR on my 1st month I went out and bought myself a new purse as my old one smelled of smoke was a nice reward that wasn't expensive either congrats on being smoke free Teresa

Your reward just needs to be something that you will enjoy...  there are many low cost to free things that you could reward yoruself with...  here's a few things that I did
At week 1 I bought a new outfit for work. 
 
Each month I would go out to dinner to celebrate.
 
As I would overcome a difficult situations or just needed a pick me up I would buy a bottle of nail polish... I have never been one to paint my nails... BUT I would paint my nails to keep my hands busy during a bad crave.... (Sometimes my nails would be a different color 5 times in the day (or more)!  LOL)  SO, this reward served a couple of purposes.
 
For my 2 year that is coming up next month my reward is a new computer...wooohooo!!!!

I had trouble with rewards at first too, then one day I finally understood why they're important.
 
One, when we used to smoke cigarettes kind of "lit up" the pleasure centers of our brains. Now that there's no nicotine flowing there, we need to "light it up" in different ways. Helps us not feel deprived.
 
Two, many of us marked accomplishments, big and small, by rewarding ourselves with a cigarette. We still look for something when we finish something. Those are a certain kind of trigger and if you don't occasionally give yourself a different kind of marker, can lead to cravings.
 
I'm going to bump up a thread called Free and Low Cost Rewards which has some great ideas. I suggest going to the beginning.
 
I'm also going to try to find a thread called This is Why You Think About Smoking. A good one about triggers.
 
30 days is awesome! Keep up the great work! I wish I'd put aside money every day/week. But, I've had so much extra to do fun stuff with anyway.

For my daily rewards, I'll brew a pot of flavored coffee every morning.  I'll take my dog out for a walk, taking in the fresh spring air.  I'm in NYC this week, and I spent $3 on roasted nuts from one of the street vendors!  I've had belgium chocolates on  day 105.  My monthly reward is "manscaping" at the local spa.  I've also been donating my monthly savings to my university for a scholarship.  For Christmas I donated one week's worth of savings to a local toy drive.  Find something that is important to you, and celebrate with it!  P.S.  I love your saving to go to Disney World in a year, but please be sure to reward yourself on a regular basis too!  Let us know what you choose!

I prefer immediate gratification! Of course you are going to have a great one year reward, but reward yourself with small things down the road.
For instance, I got a facial for my first week
a slumber party with my golfgirlfriends(yes,like kids,lol) at the 2 weeks
a short trip to santa Fe,Nm for my one month smoke free
a trip to Scottsdale,Az to a LPGA tournament for my second month smoke free(I'm hitting the road on friday evening)
If I had a really nasty smoking tought and defeated it, I would reward myself with a small piece of chocolate or a visit to a nonsmoking frien, or a long stroll with my beautiful scott terrier.
So be creative and pamper and reward yourself. It can be an extralong hot shower or a bubble bath; It can cost you zero,but you need to feel rewarded! Like kids, we need instant gratification!(lol)

In general, your reward should have three components:

Small rewards after overcoming cravings

Medium rewards for each smoke free day

Large rewards for achieving smoke free weeks, milestones or getting through difficult situations smoke free.

You should reward yourself as long as it keeps you motivated. As you get more comfortable in your quit, you may find you are rewarding yourself less and less. That's ok. Just try to keep in mind to re-incorporate your reward system should an urge to smoke creep up.

New to the Forum and spent the day on the assignments. I had a problem with rewards list. I have opened a savings account. I have been putting 25.00 a week in the account since I quit.. I have saved 100.00 so far..Planned to use the savings account to go to Disney World near my year to date..Any reward suggestions and what are they for??
