Congratulations on those 46 days! If only we can remember the hell we went through in the early days of our quits, none of us would ever restart. The sad thing about tax increases on cigs is it only hurts those who can least afford to pay them and those still addicted have to pay no matter how much they cost. We quitters are the lucky few.

It's always a good feeling to post here and get those responses. Answers and responses from people that have done exactly what you did. That know what you are talking about and understand how you feel. Getting a pat on the back as you pass another milestone and feeling good about making each one of them. We all need that. It helps a lot to keep the addict at bay.
Newer Quitters see those posts and use them as strength and ammunition against their addicts, just like we did. Thanks for helping them too. And like marivi said.......get ready for a big celebration at 50 days. Join the non-smokers on the Cruise Ship.......
You deserve it!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulation on your almost 50 days! You are boarding the cruise in just four days!!
I have mixed fillings about the cigarrette tax increase. On one hand, I think it reduces the amount of people smoking just because of monetary reasons. On the other hand if you are an addict, you will pay whatever you need to pay to get your fix, even it that means you will skip healthy food or healthcare.
I'm glad you are doing fine.
See you at the cruise!

I was just reading online about the price of cigs going up because of taxes and it really ticks me off. If you were any other drug addict there would be goverment sponcered rehab clinics for you to go to. Maybe even help you find a job, a place to live. I have finally gone through the roughest time of my life when I quit smoking. It's not just putting out your cig and laying the pack down. I know for a fact that your body goes through agonizing hell to get rid of the addiction. I am so thankful that I live alone and nobody had to see me go through that torture. I am confident that I will never go back. I wish everyone here the drive and determination and love for yourself that it takes to get through this fight. I will always be grateful to everyone on this site who has written to me and encouraged me and for writing to each other for me to read. Thanks for letting me know that I wasn't going through this alone and I could lean on you for support when I needed it. If you're a smoker out there or thinking of sliding back, just tell yourself that you are worth the fight and that you can do it!!
