I guess I don't want to say a whole lot about this, but I've noticed that how well I do with an attempt is at least partly related to whether I have the right combination of meds. For instance, I used to take a med that calmed me to the point where nothing was ever a big deal: anhedonia. I couldn't force myself to do anything. Every quit attempt I've had has each come after I was taken off of that medication. Unfortunately, I often end up right back on it, because it is controls my disorder better than the rest, and I experience the fewest side effects while taking it, although one of its side effects is diabetes. Diabetes always comes back when I go back on it.
